Default Canaan info

Can anyone give me a brief rundown on life in Canaan? We are interested in relocating but want a real feel for the area. Thanks!

It's in the Hanover region. I guess it's not that big or well known!

Hi njnurse,
I found a good website nhliving dot com...you will find some good info on the area. The pop is 3,377. I have been living in az for 7 yrs and moving back to NH in 2 mos. I went to college At PSU and visited Dartmouth college a few times. If I remember correctly it isnt close to any major freeways and may feel secluded, but I dont know what type of expectations you have?
Where are you living now?

We live in NJ now and it is getting so overpopulated. We are looking for slightly secluded small town living, with land and horses. Need to be close to Dartmouth Medical Center

Canaan is off Rt 89 Exit 17 with the hospital being the next exit up. It's a very quiet town, lot of rural areas. The town is definitely growing but not as crowded as Hanover or W Lebanon. The drive is Rt 4 to the interstate and the road crews do an excellent job of plwing & sanding. I've lived in this area for 20 years and have always commmuted to work without a problem. If you want country life, it's definitely a town to look at. It also has no zoning, so you can pretty much do or have what you want.
