Red face Groveton/Northumberland

Hi everyone,
I am a postal worker looking to transfer to the northumberland, groveton area.My kids are 4,6,12,and 14. I'm looking for good schools, businesses not too far away, and a safe community. I was told that because of the paper mill closing this area is now a very high poverty area. Can anyone fill me in? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lance

Most of the surrounding area including Berlin is a very low poverty place because there are no jobs. The last 2 small papermills ARE closing meaning that many more people with no jobs. My family lives in Berlin and i went to all the schools in Berlin growing up and i thought the schools were great. Though the town is run down and has lack of development comes in, i'm going to move back only because i want to be closer to my family not because of the town itself. On the plus side, if you already have a good job waiting for you, you'll be that much ahead of everyone else and you should be able to find a nice area to live in.
