Things to do...
Forgetting for a moment about the upcoming primary (and all the ensuing madness...)
Intown Manchester.com
DECEMBER 1- Manchester NH's annual Christmas Parade will kick off at 4:00pm. Dozens of floats, several high school marching bands, many talented performers, hundreds of walkers, and the star of the event, Santa Claus, will be there to celebrate the spirit of the holidays. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa since the U.S. Postal Service will be collecting letters at the parade and bringing them straight to the North Pole. And since it is the season of giving, Manchester’s firefighters will be walking the route collecting money for the Union Leader’s annual Santa Fund Drive. The parade route begins at 1750 Elm St. and concludes at the intersection of Elm and Lake Avenue.

PORTSMOUTH - The 2007 Illuminated Holiday Parade
celebrating “Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth” on Saturday evening will have even more entries than last year, including a stagecoach and three well-known Portsmouth figures as grand marshals, Mayor Steve Marchand announced Wednesday.
There will be 56 entries - including five marching bands and the Wells Fargo stagecoach - in this year’s parade stepping off at Plaza 800 at 6 p.m. and making its way down Islington and Congress Streets through Market Square before dispersing in the South Mill Pond parking lot. Last year’s parade included 53 band, float and marching unit entries.

I'm going to the Manchester parade - I go every year - my daughter usually twirls fire in the parade, but this year it will not be allowed because it COULD be dangerous. She's still twirling tho' - not EZ because the parade is in the dark!
look for the Ameri-Kids!

Pfftt I can't believe you're pressuring me to go stand outside and take a listen to Christmas carols and have free hot chocolate and candy canes passed out to me... AND watch the tree be lit.. You know I buckle under pressure, you're really twistin my arm here BUUUTTTTT I GUESSSS I'll just have to suck it up and go for it. I mean its only going to be 19 degrees tomorrow night, plus wind chill !!! No actually I'm pretty excited it looks fun!! I'll bring you back some pictures for sure maybe a video or two.. Depends on what kind of lighting I get from the ceramony..

OH how exciting! A fire twirler, wow how'd that one blow over when she asked to get into that!?! I can just see it.. "Mom don't be alarmed but I REALLY wanna twirl fire, now there is a SLIIGHHTT chance that the house might be flammable, BUT if Dad stands in the corner with the fire extinguisher we should be okay" just joshin .. Thats actally really neat that she does that, I'm always mesmerized by that kind of thing, it looks sooo dangerous and they're so graceful and precise when they do that stuff and make it look like anyone can just jump right in and go for it!! Good luck to her, and I hope you guys have fun!!

she started twirling at the age of 4 and earned her first world title at the age of 9... now she has 10 world titles and is 25. She started twirling fire when she got to high school and was the feature twirler for HS and college. She also got a partial scholarship for her ability. She is amazing to watch.
I had my doubts the first time she tried it, but she is so good that I was never afraid for her or anyone else. She can twirl two at the same time. She DID get burned once. She was performing at the Deerfield Fair and her baton hit some guy wires over the building (25' feet up) and the baton hit her leg. She still caught it, but I could see the burn from my position in the stands. She never flinched....just kept on twirling.
It's supposed to be very cold tomorrow, but, we'll be there with bells on!

That's so awesome & that's quite an accomplishment! Too bad she won't be able to twirl the fire batons in the parade...Maybe she can attach some battery operated LEDs to the baton.
What a treat, wish I could see it. I tried twirling a baton when I was young - it's NOT easy!!
