Moving to NH....?
I am considering moving my family to NH for work. I just moved a year ago from So Cal to upstate NY. We are outdoor people who love hiking, skiing, fall, ...anything outside. Work will be in the Barrington area. I am looking for info on schools, houses for rent, good and bad places to live, shopping (wife), and any other general comments on the area. We are excited to live the true New England lifestyle and hope to meet lots of new friends. Thank you in advace for your advice!

Sorry that I can't pause to offer any help with the questions that you are asking (I'll be back later for that ) but just wanted to say thanks for posting the picture. Every area does have its own unique beauty, and as much as I love our mountains here in NH, the canyon and the distance you can see here are amazing (speaking as one who hasn't seen this area in person--someday!!) You have a beautiful family as well... I bet those boys keep you both hopping!!

Hello Rb1274!
WELCOME TO THE FORUM RYAN!!
I just wanted to say thank you for posting such a beautiful picture!
You have a lovely family, cute little boys!! You are very blessed!
I have not moved to NH yet, so I do not have answers to all of your questions. However, there is a website that has listings for homes in the New England area, that might be of help to you. So, you can get an idea of what the market is like. The website is Northern New England Real Estate Network - Official Website of the Northern New England MLS Its the Northern New England Real Estate Site.
If I can think of anything else that might be helpful to you, I will post it here.
Good luck to you & your family!
Take care,
Countrylv22

take it your the husband so I have a question
did you not mind that man standing there with your wife as you took the picture ?

this new england life style
New england is very different , for instance CT is different to vermont and massachusetts is certainly very different to NH to be fair I suppose massachusetts is different to anywhere.
if you want to bring your kids up the way you want to, be more traditional then NH is a place for you however if you are much more liberal then massachusetts is for you.
The states in New england are very different to one another
supposing NH does fit you then the only way you will find what you want is by visiting , driving around etc as what is good for one is not good for another so it really would be hard to help you out at the moment .
there's also many barringtons around , remember new england is not just one state.
whatever you choose good luck

ah you just told us barrington NH, is every one deserting so cal or something? I know that we've heard how it's bad there what with the look at me image people , look at us and what we have and how it's very built up, no one can drive but didn't think it was that bad as it seems everyone wants out of so cal they'll be no one left there soon
is it the seacoast well accoring to maquest no it's not on the seacoast you're quite away from it.
I take it you are planning to get to NH before you decide to buy and take the job so as to know if you like the area, state, schools etc?
huh one of your post has just disappeared as it not?

Hi Rb1274,
I am a few years behind you. Yes, I am still trapped in SoCal....getting worse by the day.
I considered UNY however, I was redirected by family living in Boston to NH. I am on the way up to the area in January for the first time and hope to find that perfect place for my family as well.
Good luck to you and your family on the move.
Any regrets moving from SoCal?

The only thing I miss about CA is the beach... I didn't get to spend enough time there in the end. To busy keeping up with the Jones's!!! I had to sort of take a step backward to move two or three steps forward by leaving there, but Im glad I left when I did. Hopefully NH will be a great place for me and my family for a long time to come.
Still need to get the job though.....

Have you actually been to NH or have you just seen new england through the eyes of the TV?
I ask as I would be very surprised that you would think of relocating to a place , trying for a job where you have never been and don't know much about especially when you have kids
one thing about NH and the people is that it's not like the typical orange county ca,you won't see all the designer clothes, the top name brands
not as many show off what they have or want people to look at them in NH, it's more of a reserved stand offish conservative slower paced life than compared to so cal.
so if that's what you want then NH could be the place for you.
