Ok here are my pictures from our trip . I will show you some of good ones, as I took so many. I do them in thumbnails as I dont know how to do it another way .
First off are pics of some scenery driving up to Pismo. The hills were so beautiful, the long grass was blowing in the wind. It looked amazing. And then we passed some vineyards, we stopped at Andersons Pea Soup. Heather my youngest daughter signed the guest book, isnt she pretty . Then here is the view from our room.
I am going to have to make a few more posts, so please bear with me, as we can only do 8 pics per post. I hope you guys like them

Post number 2...lol
This is our hotel room view, and some views of the beach. There used to be a staircase that lead down to the beach, it was kinda scarey to go down, now it is gone. We made our fire, and ate chips, and Rick and Heaz had to throw sand...lol. Then there are some pics of Heather, Rick and myself at Avila Beach, on our way up to Hearst Castle.

Post 3....
Here we are at Hearst Castle. This "castle" was unbelievable Pictures dont do it justice. There is the view from the bus that takes us up to the Castle. The driveway is 5 miles long. It took us just over 11 mins to get up there. Then looking down twards the beach, there is a private air strip, that the Hearst family still uses today.
The first house you see, is one of the guest houses. It is the "smaller" of the guest homes. There are 3 on the property. All of them are 3 stories tall. We got to go inside the "medium" sized one.
The pool is amazing!! No other words for it. I was picturing all of "Old Hollywood" just hanging around poolside. That must of been something.
The wood that is on the guest house is mohogany and all the gold you will see in this picture and others is real 24 carat gold. They just restored the wood.
For all you gardeners, you guys would be in heaven!!! The grounds smell wonderful. There are so many flowers and trees.

Post 4...
Here is a view to the ocean, and then my little angel Heaz by some roses that are everywhere on the property.
Here is the "Castle". The front door is made of iron and gold. On the inside of the front door way they are fixing the tiles in the entry way. It has been 4 years so far and they arent done yet.
The book is from 18th century Spain. It is full of Gregorian(sp?) chants.
The dining room was the inspiration for the dinning room at Hogworts, in Harry Potter. The set designer came to Hearst Castle and used the way his dinning room was in the movie. They added a few more tables and there ya go .
The next picture is of the ceiling. There are hand carved wooden tiles in the living room, dining room, and I dont remember where else. But they are beautiful, also from Spain.
The indoor swimming pool is underneath the outside tennis court. The tour guide told us Cary Grant used to bring his lady friends to the pool so he could "get" to know them better . The pool is 10 feet deep at all sides, and there is of course gold in the tiles. The diving area is made of marble, as is all the stairs in both pools.

Post 5.....lol
This is the last post...finally.
Here is the tile around the indoor pool.
Here is a better picture of the diving board.
Here is the bottom of the pool, and yes there are gold tiles..lol.
This is the view heading down the to the parking lot. Hearst owns something 900,000 acres. There are animals roaming around. They used to have a poultry farm, dairy farm, beef ranch, and a zoo.
The picture of the "Rock" is the rock in Morrow Bay. The thing is huge.
Here is another view of the "Rock".
The last 2 pictures are of Pismo Beach. We stopped back by there on the way home. I love the one of Heaz with the sun setting behind her. She is truly my angel.
Hope you all enjoyed the pictures. Sorry there are so many. I couldnt decide which ones to post.

Nicole, what a gorgeous setting. The pictures are great! I love the staircase leading up to the top, very cool! Sounds like you had a great time.
Suzet, the pictures of the castle are amazing. What decadence! Just think of the craftsmanship needed to create that! Just mindboggling. Pismo beach looks very nice!
What a great thread. I urge everyone to send in pictures. This is a great way to not only see different things, but to be a part of our friends lives here at C-D NH. What fun!

Suzet, thank you for sharing part of your world with us. You would have to visit the Newport mansions to see such splendor here on the east coast. The people who live like that in New Hampshire don't open their homes for tours
"The Rock" is HUGE!!! I never saw or heard of it before (and why would I...) again, thanks for sharing Like Dare, I especially enjoyed the sunset pictures--we in New England can enjoy watching the sun rising over the ocean, but not setting...
