Yaeh, we didn't even know what kind of cat he was when we got him and started showing pics of him on here and people were telling me he looked like maine coon.. so i checked into it and sure enough he is. that's what i found out about him when i contacted a breader. here's the latest picture of tigger...
JFR, he is a doll! It looks like he's wearing black eyeliner--very distinctive
It's really hard to tell if he's full-blooded or not, and even a breeder wouldn't be able to tell for sure without DNA, but he's at least a good part Maine Coon. Sounds like he's got the personality for it too!! My mom got her Maine Coon from the animal hospital that I worked at back in the 90's. All of us, even the boss (the vet who owned the hospital) knew that there was something special about this boy

JFR, when I come to NH I am so stealing Tigger. He is coming home with me. He is the most precious little kitty I have ever seen. So I am takin em with me. Just thought I'd give ya a heads up.
Suzet, when you move to New Hampshire, we'll have to hook you up with a Maine Coon of your very own. They are SO COOL!!! And if you think Tigger is a beauty (and he is!!!) you should see the silver OMG they are so beautiful!!!

JFR I checked it out for you - cuz I was also wondering how much they go for...let's just say I about fell out of my chair!
low end was $700 - and silver go for about $800, with the black and white tuxedo ones going for more. Beautiful cats but wow expensive.
holy crap....we only paid 23.50 for tigger...i guess we got one hell of a deal lol....
Yes you did - always a good thing to get those deals from the rescue shelters. He might not be a purebreed, but then again the treasures are out there and it sounds like you found one. I would love to have a coon too, but not at that price LOL.

but you know what, i wouldn't care because he's just to cute and DW picked him out... when we first got him i didn't even know he was maine coon..we can't tell one breed from another we just love cat's and that's why we have 6 . and maybe we'll get 6 more , who knows.. it's just hard when you go to an animal shelter and you see so many kitties that need a home..i wish we could take them all, but unfortunately we don't have room... maybe someday when we hit the loto..lol...
