traffic in Manchester
I have to laugh when I read postings about the traffic in Manchester. Driving around the Washington, D.C. beltway everyday, Manchester seems like rush minute instead of rush hour. Now I would agree that compared to the lakes region it is heavy, but if you were to see some of the traffic around NJ, NY, MA or MD, you would be very appreciative of your city of 110,000. The city of Baltimore ranks in the top 5 crime ridden cities in the USA. Manchester is in the top five for least crime in a city of over 100,000. Be thankful you live in the lakes if that is what you like, but realize Manchester is still better than most cities.

I used to live in Seattle and compairingly you are correct. But Manchester isn't designed to handle the traffic so yes rush hour has actually become rush hour and a half. As more ppl move there it gets worse.

Wretched Berlin
The horrible parts of the city remain the same as our forests are ripped to crap, stripped and subdivded. As in most of America, investment companies now are the large land owners, land that has always been, primarily forestry land is being stripped and subdivided. A.W.Walters.

You can't have it both ways.

Glad you're laughing ! Washington DC is the number one murder capitol of the United States and if I were there, I wouldn't be laughing. I live in the Lakes Region of NH and love it but I've also lived in DC, Detroit, San Diego and Fort Lauderdale and while I love to visit, give me NH any day of the week with it's "rush minute" traffic! FYI, from Manchester south, it's a Boston atmosphere and in another 20 years, will be a mini Boston with all it's problems. So glad I'm in the Northern part of the state and when I have to go south, I dread it but as long as I can go back to home sweet home up here and know it's only temporary insanity, I'm happy.

Where to live
I currently live in Chester and absolutely love it. I've lived in Southern NH all my life and went to Pinkerton Academy for high school. I used to make fun of the people that lived in Chester because it was SO country but now that I'm all grown up I wouldn't change a thing.
Sandown which is directly down the street from Chester is growing. There are many new beautiful houses being built in the area which is attractive to Boston commuters. 45 minutes to Boston from 93 or 495 (not counting high-traffic times). Although there are many houses being built they are being built in high-end subdivisions which personally, I believe benefit the town. They aren't being thrown in making the town look trashy but in very good taste.
I love living in the area where we have one or two stores close by where everyone knows your name and people are always smiling.

Not exactly. Paper companies are moving out of the northcountry. They used to lease it out. Try buying a camp on a lake. The lots are being subdivided and sold. Their value quadruples in just a few years. This makes land taxes go up and the natives find their old summer homes are now cost prohibitive.

Several Realtors I know have said it and @ people I know that make a Damn good living buying and selling houses have both said it. Both that make a living selling and buying seem to know the market better than the people I know that Have a Realtors license. They both sold all there properties aside from the 1 or 2 they plan on keeping for themselves. But they where right last year the price came down a little bit and they say this spring they will raise a little but not major. But by spring of 2008 they will fall in price by about 15 to 25%. Again they make their living for their families and their selves this way so they do know the market damn well. Well enough to make 7 figures a year profit after taxes without flipping them after repair. As they put it Realtors are there to sell Holmes. they know how the market is at that time. But Very few Know how it will react. For that you need a good honest Realtor. Those are far and few between. If I was you I would wait til spring of 2008 before I buy. Just to give you an Idea. I took their word and bought my first house when they said at the price they said. And when they called saying sell I did. $189K profit in 6 years with 1 house. @ months after it sold the people that bought it tried to flip it with windows and other minors. They still have it. They would have lost $40k without the renovation costs. So again I take there word It is very good.
