remember-voltaire will become famous soon enoughremember-voltaire will become famous soon enough
right airdaly here's you thread back to the top where you want it for your agenda, hope this brings a smile to your face

well I'm totally fed up of hearing about it, fed up of the old if you say it enough times people will believe it
it's the new fashion, got to be seen going green

massachusetts town bans christmas lights to save the world
stars tell us to have two min showers
buy those other bulbs but forget they contain mercury
get emmisions tests yet planes and trains don't and they make more pollution
use only one peice of toilet paper
san fran now thinking of banning fireplaces
stars using private planes yet get off them to preach to us about how they want the world saved
just how many lecture us about it yet live in a bigger house, drive a SUV, leave the outside light on at night
watch TV when they could just read a book.
have the heat on about 70 or 68 when they could turn it down to 55
how many drive around the corner instead of walking
how many have a snow blower nstead of just shovelling
go on a plane or a long car journey for vacation
the list is endless
do as I say not do as I live

not one person who preaches this lives by what they say not one

so because some wish to see proof that pollution is causing this and not the world is going through another natural climatic cycle then it's peoples arrogance

arrogance is when you think you are right, dismiss others views , lecture others how to live yet you don't live what you preach and if they don't go by your rules they are wrong you are are right

if I'm cold I'm having the fire on
if I want my outside light on I will
If I see a log cabin or have the money to build one I will
If I can afford to have a big house I will
I will go on long journeys in my car and I am looking to buy a tahoe

and I'll change when all these tree huggers change their lifestyle and give up all their little toys , vacations, lights, heating, boats, planes etc
if I can afford to have the heating toastie and warm I will

In a hundred two hundred years to come people will look back and just laugh at how stupid some have been about this

12 natural climatic changes this earth has gone though, is this another maybe
is this pollution, maybe
is the antartic bigger than it's ever been , yes it is, has south america had one of the worst winters yes it has
after katrina they said us in florida would get even more of those kind of storms , we got none
the next year we were siupposed to get them , we got none
all this hysteria is madness
is there definate proof of us causing this , no there's not, this is not left and right though some on the extreme left seem to want to impose their way onto others
but the beauty is america is land of the free is it not, then let me live free and if I am not nrainwashed into thinking we're all doomed then so be it

Well said, MamaBee. "Saving the environment", while an important endeavor, seems to be the issue du jour.

I'm with you; what is being done to make my town/city safer, more productive, provide jobs and housing, promote business prosperity, ensure better education, among some the many things. So much time is being spent on this, that the rest of the important things are getting lost in the shuffle. I'm all for a clean world, but unless it starts with every single human being, it's almost impossible to get any momentum on it. It's just that people want to look like they are doing something, just in case someone is watching. It gives them a level of self importance. It can be gratifying, but is anyone telling Poland Spring to stop selling water in plastic bottles? Never going to happen.

Don't be sorry. Sometimes it's important to relate things to gain a perspective.

RV - you're the one who likes top billing. Your postings tell so much about you. If you really think the economy will stay strong if the environment is weak, you're naive.

It is sad to see the commentaries here, but I am heartened that Keene and almost 170 comunities in NH are concerned enough to raise the issue of global warming and its effects on NH.

well I'm happy you're enlightened and sorry to see you sad

we're now on about the economy, <sigh> when did this get said and when did I say this, never is the answer

what exactly does my posting say about me, please do explain as I would be very interested.
because I don't agree with you and a few, because I want to see proof which you haven't provided and because I question and not get all hysterical about this subject then I'm naive
righty o

if you wish you can message me too about it too if it's a personal attack on a negative thing about me

one of the reasons why we left massachusetts was to get away from those who wish to impose their views on us
even where you live in lexington massachusetts they have big mc mansions,
now if you live in a small house, drive a very small car or have no car, never use a snow plough, don't use a plane to go on vacation then I';; respect that persons decision and good for them practising what they preach but if they don't then sorry but it sounds a tad hypocritical

also it seems I've got a few good reps over this so I see I'm not alone, so thank you to those who gave them

Hey now Voltaire be nice ... you have me figured out ...

tree huggers
I do happen to be termed as a tree hugger, granola, crunchy, whatever you wanna call us. But as for giving up

little toys , vacations, lights, heating, boats, planes etc
I don't know many of us who have those things. In summer spare time I am known to frequent trails voluntarily with trail crews cleaning up the mountainsides, in the winter, my vacation is to go ski NH in April when skiing is done here in NY. My sister does the same out west along with fighting all those deadly forest fires that pop up all over Cali. Oh, and airplanes, I've never in my life been on one.

I am your typical granola!

You continue to do what you like to do, and I likewise will continue to save mother Earth!

Once again ... we can continue to go 'round and 'round on this.

you and I have talked and I've enjoyed our talks in the past ski chick , you know I value a different opinion , you also know I don't like being attacked because of it

after reading her past posts I see she has an agenda and doesn't like it if people put down massachusetts, one reason why I left that state and hated it though I will be there in a couple of days to see family and friends

also ski chick we're getting dizzy with all these conversations maybe we should have been married EEK EEK EEK
I have meaning to tell you and ask you this

what kind of skiing do you like to do?

I used to live in a place on and off for four years called mjoilfjell(sp) two hours away from voss in norway and used to be a ski instructor, did an outward bound course too up in the artic, yes colder than NH

worst thing was living in a snow hole and it collapsed

Dito that . Conversations/debates would be in abundance. And that's what makes America great. Our so called freedom of speech. If we all had the same opinion, it would be a mighty dull place to live.

As for skiing, I've done all aspects of it ... downhill, teli, snowboarding, and cross country w/ a very handsome young boy ... my siberian husky. Downhill is what I've done the most though. Raced all my life and I coach ski racing now. Teli is the most fun though ... teli is another form of finding freedom in the mountains.

The arctic ... will you take me there one day??? I'd love to take a team of dogs up there one day and explore. I'll bet it was an amazing experience, minus the snow collapse. So ... do you still ski? Maybe we can get together, have some debates, and shred some turns and then take up Suzet's offer of rounds and then I'll buy a round too.

Suzet, you reading this?

As I've said before: there is nothing wrong with trying to be kind to the planet - it's what they've always taught the boy scouts and girl scouts!

However... the small bits that we do for 'green' reasons, really don't add up to a great deal of result as long as other countries (like CHINA) are spewing out dark clouds and streams of gunk that put our pollution to shame! We are already so much cleaner than they are!

That doesn't mean we shouldn't care, but I do feel the brow beating of our own people should stop, when we're not the global problem anymore. Only thing is: the countries that are the problem don't give a fig about anyone else.

The reason for this is that our American businesses have been shipped over seas (to China) so we can save a penny and destroy the over seas land and air. It makes us look good right? Look at labels ... how much of what we buy is made in China? So, if it wasn't for our society, China wouldn't have to do what they are doing, and this makes us part of the root of the problem. I am not bashing anyones beliefs or thoughts, just stating what I see as the truth.

I posted a website before ... here it is again. Please check it out.

The reason we ship things to China isn't so "we" can save a penny. Notice how Coach handbags are made in China but still cost about $300? It's so the corporations can save hundreds of pennies on each item they sell. It's also because our government has refused to stand up for the manufacturing base in America and pursues these "free trade" deals with other countries. (Free for everyone but Americans)
