Was peak this past week up north, means peak will be in southern parts of NH by then, but you're better off just going somewhere generally pretty, instead of trying to chase peak foliage, as it can vary quite a bit depending on a host of factors, so that, for instance, five or ten minutes away everything is orange and red, while half the trees in my backyard are green. Just go somewhere you'd like to go, with a nice diner nearby and a pretty view, you'll see plenty of leaves just driving around.
I might recommend the Monadnock Region. Harrisville, Nelson, Hancock, Jaffrey Center are all beautiful villages and close together. The first three are personal favorites, Harrisville and Hancock have places you can sit to have a nice lunch. Peterborough is close by and little bigger with more food and shopping choices, but the scenes are not as good. Enjoy your time in the state, it's a great time of year to visit.
