Milford is outside your 15-minute requirement. I go to Milford a lot, and I go at all times of the day, and the drive along 101A has many signals and lots of traffic at any time of day. The intersection at 101A and 130 in Nashua bogs down all the time with traffic backed up nearly to the Everett Turnpike - it can take me 10 or 15 minutes to just get from there to Daniel Webster Highway in the mid-late afternoon. I have not driven it at night, however.
Google Maps shows drive times on all directions, including "in current traffic." You can put the pegman down on any location away from St. Joseph's and it will tell you how many minutes you are from the hospital. Right now it shows 17 minutes from the furthest eastern point in Milford on 101 to St. Joseph's - 21 minutes in current traffic. Taking the option of 122 south to 130 east is even longer.

Thank you for your response, it was most helpful. I'm several states away trying to find the right town for my family using the computer. Your input was very helpful, thank you.
We are also considering Milford, any feedback on this town?
If you're considering Milford, don't ignore Amherst and Mont Vernon which border it; all of these towns (and the towns one step further out, e.g. Lyndeborough) are just far enough from the MA border that they aren't dominated by commuters making Boston salaries, driving up real estate values.

I like Milford (and Amherst), but wouldn't want to live too close to the Milford oval, or really anywhere along 101A. I agree traffic can be annoyingly slow, particularly during the pumpkin festival.
As far as living in Hudson, there are two bridges that cross the Merrimack River. The one that Valerie mentioned is the northern bridge, where it says "Hudson" on the map below. The southern bridge, known as the "Circumferential Highway," is just that, a highway with no signals that connects to the Everett Turnpike, so there are no signals until you exit at Highway 111. I have not driven it in the morning, nor have I driven along 3A very much south of the Circumferential Highway, so I don't know how that traffic might be. I plunked the pegman down on a random street, and drive time from there to St. Joseph's is 14 minutes in both regular and current traffic, so you might want to take a look in that area as well.
I personally think most neighborhoods in Hudson look about the same as many of the other towns in the area, including my own, Londonderry, with the exception of the "wealthier" towns like Hollis, Bedford and Windham. The shopping along 3A near the intersection with the Circumferential Highway has a Walmart, Sam's Club, Market Basket and Rite-Aid, with banks, shops and some restaurants farther north towards 111. The bridge makes shopping in southern Nashua, including all your major box stores and the Pheasant Lane Mall, very convenient. I would have no problem at all living in Hudson.
