Default New Hampshire vs Massachusetts

I know a home in New Hampshire is less expensive than in Massachusetts but I also know New Hampshire has astronomical
property taxes. What advantages are there of owning a home in NH over
MA ?
Thank you.

What you'll pay in actual tax $ may not be higher in NH. You will easily find a home in NH that will have lower taxes than the exact same home in MA as long as you buy one in a town with low tax rates for the simple reason that homes cost less here. Move to the north of NH and you'll buy 4 homes for the price of one in Middlesex county.

Will you work in NH? If so, no income tax. Shopping? No sales tax. On the flip side, you'll probably earn less. There's more to the equation than just property tax.

I have noticed the homes tend to be cheaper.... I am on Cape Cod and our taxes are very low but our home insurance is getting way out of hand. I think you pay anywhere you go, it's just a matter of how you like the place, and like yourself living there. I firmly believe one should live where they feel their best and can do their best to enjoy life and be a good person. From my research, it may be worth it to move if you work in the state and live in a cheaper tax town. Certainly the attitude in NH is far better from a Government standpoint ... they really do believe in their slogan .... Live free ...Good Luck !

Considering what many of expect the sea level to do in the next decade, getting off Cape Cod before the rush would be a good thing to do. NH is a great place to live if you are moderately wealthy and have a couple of kids. Otherwise Massachusetts may be a better deal in terms of wages.
