I just wanted to point out that there are states that would suit your needs more so than New Hampshire. Government Services are so much more prolific in Mass and NY and yes even your Florida.

Sciamedia is on a distinguished road
Default Good Book to Understand How the Left Thinks

For those who can identify with Conservative issues this is a wonderful site. I do not endorse every book that makes their list but this one in particular I think may help and apply to some who threaten to change the heart of New Hampshire.

Conservative Book Service: Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder by Michael Savage

Suzet has made a genuine request for goodwill among those who post on this board. I do agree and I would hope that all could refrain from stirring direct or indirect animosity towards those you may not agree with. Also absolutely no profanity or alluded profanity. God says to Love Thy Neighbor, let us all try our best to live up to that. Life is too short to create ill will and discontent.

From what I could see on their web site, Keene has about 40-45 sworn police officers. That would mean they have at least 30 cars. These cars get a ton of miles put on them in a very short period of time. I'm sure that the dept. didn't just go out and buy a Charger off the cuff. I'll bet one of the patrol cars was ready for replacement. Many dept's across the country are switching to the Charger, and not because it has some sort of hot rod reputation. The prices are decent and some are looking to replace the aging Crown Victoria. Some are equipped with the V-6 so there goes the "chase scene" aspect. As for useless...the Crown Vic is also a rear wheel drive vehicle with a sizable V-8 engine. They probably handle similar in snowy weather.

Being the wife of a police officer is not easy, I'm sure. You hear about all the inside crap that the rest of the world doesn't. Check out the budget for the dept some time. I'm sure a copy of it is available at the town hall. You'd be surprised to see what line items are.

Tara, we are all a bit sorry you have had a hard time in NH. I have read every word closely. I'm headed there in the near future, so it's important to me what some recent transplants are feeling. But I think some of the opinions you have stated are are out of frustration, a natural reaction. On the other hand, what were your expectations? What made them miss their mark?

I'm not going to change your mind, nor will I try, but here's something about bitterness, whether you are Christian or not:
"We cannot live with bitterness because it will first manifest itself in our spirit, then in our emotions, and finally in our bodies."
Pastor Tom Drout, Christian Fellowship Church - Seattle, Wa

Good luck, Tara. You have lots of passion. Use it for good means. God bless you and Tom, and hope you find your way.

They have 7 or 8 cars and one suburban suv for the shift supervisor when I go to the pd tonight I'll give em a count they line em up at shift change I confirmed it with the hub and he said no more than 9 nine cars. They only have the amount of cars that the most officers would be on per shift (night shift) if that makes sense? They actually bid on who gets what cruiser by putting names in a hat every shift and first name pulled gets first pick of car, second name pulled gets second pick and so on.. Every shift.. Thats also goes for over time, they call it "biding" but its not by seniority its by name pulling out of a hat in every literal sense of the word. You have to be there first thing Thursday morning to put your name in a hat to get pulled, if not, no overtime for you that week. I almost shot milk out my nose when I heard thats how they do it. So there's really no incentive to get a higher rank cause you still dont' get first pick . Thats why I'm sayings its a bit ridiculous to spend your budget money on one charger, when you can buy 8 tasers for less, and put them in the car and let the officer on duty in that car use them..

Also the PD just moved into a HUGE warehouse for the department, the fire department was suppose to be joining but there was this huge fight between the two that went to city counsil meetings and went of for like a year and the FD instead pulled out last minute and decided to renovate the entire fire department head to toe so now the PD is sittin in a humungo warehouse using litteraly just 1/4 th of this place and eating up the costs for heating and maintaining. They should make the other half a jail, cause its really that big it could house over 100 inmates easily but instead they use the Westmorland (sp?) jail I think it is so my husband has to drive like over a half hour out of town one way just to drop off one prisoner x's that by 3 shifts so we'll say 7 arrests a day, on weekends forget some officers go back multiple times, so there goes more money for gassing up the cars to drive that far.. You kinda see what I'm saying its kinda doing it the hard way and its not efficient for the tax payers, their the ones suffering for this I'm sure. Thats when I hear Keene is so concerned about global warming I have to laugh cause they do everything BUT try to prevent it

The idea that Keane or the US Government or Mankind can prevent Global Warming is without basis. How many SUV's were around when the last ice age retreated. Actually soon all the ice on Earth may disappear as it has several times before. That is what climate cycles do. But there are some who want to capitalize on fear, like Al Gore. He is making an awful lot of money on this Global Warming thing!

You compare ice ages - periods of 10,000 years - to the current increased warming trend of a few decades. Whether current climate change is due to human input or not, whether it is part of a mini-cycle (a few 100 years) or not, the earth is warming far more rapidly than we've experienced in recorded history. A billion+ people live within areas that will flood with sea level rises of a few feet. We have no real idea whether that sea level rise will occur if and when the ice caps melt, but we owe it to our grandchildren to research, plan, and prepare rather than sit around with out collective thumbs in places I'm too polite to mention. We've seen what happens when we lose sight of traditional civil preparedness for homeland security.

It doesn't matter who is right, or WHY it is happening. IF it IS happening, than we must shut the heck up and PREPARE.

Weather is wacky and always has been.. How about the Year without a summer in 1816's I believe. They thought it was the end of the world.. I agree they're trying to capitalize on it for sure. The earth goes through cycles of odd weather, and cool offs and warm ups. Perhaps its a bit more extreme than it used to be but I'm not buying that complete armageddon is on its way in 10 years. Perhaps we'll all adapt and grow gills if all the glaciers melt? Either way I doubt I'll be around to see complete loss of the glaciers, perhaps my kids

The actual most recent spike in the troposphere's temperature occurred before 1940 and since then it has not been so significant as was the temperature increase after 1770 or 1880. Historical records show there have been many more warmer times than we have today. The Medieval Maximum from 800-1200AD for one (when the Vikings were in Greenland and Iceland and during the the reign of Egypt. As far as I know there were no internal combustion engines then. But that may not be true, as we could have been visited by space aliens.

The Earth had a mini ice age as recent as from 1410 -1720 also known as the Maunder Minimum. There is absolutely no scientific correlation having CO2 (which is part of the carbon cycle) produced by humans having an affect upon our troposphere's temperature increase, as all scientific records reveal that temperature will increase years before you see a CO2 increase. Further, if anything we have been depleting the Earth's CO2 life form production as per our Greedy Free For All with regards to Ocean Trawling and other Animal and Plant Extinctions. Also the CO2 molecule does not retain heat very well and has a very short lived half life within our troposphere. CO2 represents approx .03% of our troposphere as well.

With regards to possible sea level changes I would say very probable, as years back even the English Channel was not there and the sea levels have steadily been rising for the past 6K years + and probably overall will continue even way after we one day (if we do not destroy one another and live long enough) cross over to a fusion energy system. And when sea levels do rise to threaten our coastal cities we will do what we have always been very good at. And that is called ADAPTATION.

But getting back to the original intent of this post was to warn NH residents of the many global warming fear mongers and how they will do their best to profit by taxation, investments and so on. The only thing Green about AL Gore is the Green Cash he is making off this Global Warming Mania.
