What about the Weathervane Restaurant?
It's my birthday on Monday, and I want my husband to take me out for lobster this weekend to celebrate. I was told the Weathervane Restaurant was good and the cost was more reasonable than in most places. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Also, I see there is one in Bedford and one in Nashua. Is one better than the other? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Otherwise, any other suggestions would be great!

There used to be a Weathervane near Concord. It had a fabulous reputation years ago; I havent been there in a long while.
There is a Common Man resturant right near 93 in Concord. The last time I was there a couple of years ago it was fantastic! We loved it! I especially appreciated that when we asked the waitress if we could get a rare cut of prime rib, she wnt and asked the chef and came back and recommended a delicious steak! Service was wonderful and the food was excellent, enough so that after 2 years we still remember it fondly.

We live close to the one in Bedford. It's fine, but nothing special. I much prefer the Common Man restaurants for a night out, but it's also true that they might be more expensive.
I feel totally comfortable taking my 5 year old twins to Weathervane, but not so much the Common Man, if that tells you anything.
Sorry, I reread the OP. I don't know that the Common Man serves lobster, though.

Hello
Not sure where you're at, but there are several Weathervane's to chose from in NH, (Bedford, Dover, Chichester, Salem, Lebanon & Nashua) and more in Maine & Mass.
In New Hampshire, I've only eaten at the Salem and Bedford ones. I found it to be a family-friendly place where I can bring the kids for seafood and not break the bank. I've never had lobster there, maybe someone else can comment?
Whatever you do, hope you have a great birthday!!!

+1 on EVERYTHING Valerie C said.
The Common Mans speciality is the prime rib (I know someone will end up correcting me) not lobster. You want steak, go to a steak restaurant, italian, go to an italian restaurant, seafood, go to a seafood restaurant, etc.
As far as the lobster goes, someone will have to give you a name. I cook mine at home OR find a place on the coast (coast=seafood).
(all the above are my opinions and/or suggestion) I have to say that because SOME people (on here) don't have a sense of humor......
Good luck!

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate it. We live in Merrimack. We have been once to the Common Man. I have heard good comments about the Lobster Boat in Merrimack but the outside doesn't look all that great and people tell me it is very small and crowded in there. Any comments on it?

I live in Merrimack too. The Lobster Boat is fairly good food, but it is plastic booths and paper placemats. Very noisy and crowded and more like a quick order place than a date night place, in my opinion. The Weathervane is nicer than that, as far as atmosphere.
There are some really good seafood places in Portsmouth if you're willing to go that far.
Happy Birthday, and good luck!

I LOVE the Lobster Boat. It's simple setting doesn't offer much ambiance - but the food is great! I've been there for B'days and it's just fine. Depends on whether the setting is as important as the food. The place does get crowded at dinner time, but there's a reason for that. I'd be perfectly happy going to the Lobster Boat to celebrate a special occasion.
I've been away from Merrimack for a while. Is Newicks still around? I heard some time back that they might be closing. We always enjoyd Newicks also, and while it's still a family friendly place, it's much bigger, lots more elbow room, and "feels" like there's a bit more ambiance. If they're still around, they'll give you a free Birthday dinner (up to $10 value), whatever you choose on the menu, but it has to be on the exact date - and they'll ask to see your license to verify. You mention that your birthday is on Monay. I don't know whether they're open on a Monday and how they would handle that. You might give them a call and ask to talk to the manager. Newicks is a coastal family business. I believe they have several restaurants. The one on the coast was very good also, and being near the water it had that "saltwater feeling" to the setting.
Happy birthday, enjoy!

Newick's closed this fall in Merrimack. We liked it, too.

Living in the Seacoast, I actually go to the one in Kittery more often than not. Yeah, it's bigger and more touristy than the others, but Thursday "Wicked Twins" can't be beat.
