The was one of the best episodes I've seen. Unbelievable at how that community came together for that family.

I watched it with the kids (let the youngest stay up late, this is our local culture, and can always make up on the sleep) and I admit there were some tears, even tho I did manage to spend some time there and saw it first hand, was very cool to see it on TV. I have to admit that I"m not much for "reality tv" (or tv at all...) but this was great to watch.
I couldn't believe how many recessed lights that kitchen had! I think my favorite element of the house is those big circle/disks that were set into the living room/great room ceiling. Very cool!!

From my reading on other forums, there are a LOT of unhappy people around this project, contractors, builders, etc. who were treated poorly, left hanging daily, uncredited, etc. etc.
Not to mention that the TV company uses a lot of fishy lawyer tricks to try and get the new homeowners out of paying the taxes, etc.
This isn't just the NH one, this story gets repeated in nearly every town Extreme goes to, apparently.
Just one example: Anyone see the Manchester Extreme Home Makeover - The NEOW Forum

The example you site seems to be full of immature, no-nothing, "i know a guy", and childish responses. Do you really credit the information there?

Considering I know a lot of those folks personally? Yes I do.
I'm not denying a TON of hard work goes into this. But do you honestly believe that no toes are stepped on, no fibs told, no neighbors and towns cheated, no truths stretched? This is TV still, after all.
I'm not taking a side here, just presenting the opposing viewpoint.

I don't normally watch the show, but watched it this past Sunday....How exactly does it work - especially in this case, where the family still had a mortgage on their former house? Is the family still responsible for those payments (I would assume yes?) and I'm also assuming (yes I know what "assume" does ) that the property taxes also go up on the homes that Home Makeover makes over?
The inside of the house is gorgeous and I did like the "sense of community" that was portrayed, which was awesome.
Slightly off-topic - I saw on MUR that Super Nanny was coming to NH for auditions....wonder if anyone went for those?

I'm sure there were many rules bent, broken and left in the dust. However, I guess I could take the complaints a little more seriously if not for some of the comments... Things like "white trash crack dealers accidently burn down their home and need a new one?" and "Worse, breeders looking for but another handout." C'mon, these people need to grow up... This family didn't go out and buy some huge McMansion and expect the government to bail them out because they "didn't understand that their payment would go up". They bought a modest little house in a modest little neighborhood. A neighborhood that as far as I know, had never flooded before. LOTS of places flooded that week that had never even a hint of water in the basements. Practically the whole state was in a state of emergency... Why would they have bought buy flood insurance if they didn't have to? Not many people I know have it, unless they NEED to, at the time of closing.
Sort of reminded me of a grown-up (?) version of my 11-yr old at the end of the show. He was pretty happy for the Voisines, until he saw the cool toys like the zip line, the dune buggy/4 wheeler, etc. He thought that was just "too much, just way too much!". He's ok w/ the house, the bedrooms, etc, just not the toys... Kids!!

I'll not defend the immature comments off some of those people, just say that that is a local forum, occupied by a small group that pretty much all know each other... it can get silly in there for sure.
But the fact remains that some of the guys on that board work for companies who have dealt with Extreme directly and came away very disillusioned. Don't discount their opinions because there are other idiotic responses in there as well.
Like I said before, just adding the opposing viewpoint.
