Littleton in trouble again
Surprise littleton NH is in termoil again whith the group littleton growth with common sence. they have filed 2 more lawsuits agenst the town. this used to be nice little town is already fighting this group of a whole 10 ppl and in dept up to their woohoos beacause these ppl wont stop intil they get what they want ***** anyone elses oppinion. the town wants a special town meeting so the ppl can decide but this group is sueing to block that and now there sueing to block a benifits package the police cheif got to leave as they asked. you would think this little group with loud mouths would leave the ppl of littleton alone and quite driving up the tax rate by forcing the town to pay all these xtra lawyer fees would someone in littleton please tell them to shut up so your BEAUTIFUL town can have work and happiness without them screwing you up. and you can get on with your life as you know and always liked it. these few ppl shoould not have the power to tell you you have no choice its our way or no way. STAND UP FOR YOUR TOWN AND MUZZLE THE TROUBLE MAKERS. I almost moved there myself til I saw what was happaning .its your town not theirs. the few should not come before the many. check it out www.caledonianrecord.com this news paper has it all what isn't in the today addition is in the archives.

nhyrnut,
Sounds like you are just the guy for the job! Stand up and tell those people everything you just wrote. It would be a lot more effective in person than posted on the net.

I have to admit, I couldn't understand most of what nhyrnut was saying. What's going on in Littleton? How did it turn out?
I'm considering a move to Littleton.
EDITED TO ADD: Reading more of the threads on the forum, I know understand what nhyrnut was talking about. I find it incredibly sad. These types of people are a trial to my patience and anger. I'm looking for a small, quiet, beautiful, untouched by 'civilization' town to live simply in. Seems like they don't exist anymore. I find that incredibly sad.

I wouldnt call Littleton "untouched" by civilization. There is a Wal-Mart, Staples, Home Depot, Applebees, and soon to be a Lowe's.
You may want to check across the river in the Lyndonville/St. Johnsbury, Vermont area. I feel like I've stepped back in time whenever I'm over that way.

I find it interesting to read comments here......Even with the stores mentioned above and other discussions on the board, coming from the Mid-Hudson region in NYS, Littleton still seems "untouched" to me...Again, I think it's a case of what you're used to! <g>

There are untouched towns by the bushels basket full, they are all over the state, Littleton is nice, but not what I would consider untouched either, I just bought 4 acres in one, there are lots of em left, get off the interstate and take the back roads.

Well, having lived in the big city of Minneapolis for several years now, almost anywhere else is "untouched" to me. I'm not thrilled with WalMart being there because I've seen them put so many mom-n-pops out of business. It's the mom-n-pops that make a town great and help keep the small-town feel.
I'm all for turning off the interstate, myself. Unfortunately, when you're researching a move online and are looking for smaller towns, most of those "off-the-interstate" places aren't found online. (Which is probably a very good thing for them!)
Thanks everyone, for responding. I'm finding it helpful!

Hey Um you might want to try St. Johnsbury VT. It is about 20 min from littleton ans sounds more of what your looking for. No walmart either. LOL They fought it to the point of walmart going to littleton instead.

Littleton sucks!
Yes, Littleton sucks. I was born here and still live here. Kind of stuck here, actually. I wish Wal-Mart would have went to St Jay. Shaw's would have never came; so long to those outrageous grocery bills. Butson's was better! I drive to Plymouth Wal-Mart to do my shopping, now. I don't work in Littleton, I prefer to make enough money to live at least. Littleton jobs are a joke. If you want to make 8 bucks an hour be my guest. There's no way to raise a family up here, live in a nice house with a nice piece of land unless you a dentist or doctor or rich to begin with. Otherwise you'd be renting an apartment (scratch that, hole in a wall) for 7-800 bucks a month. Seriously, the apartments around here suck and are about the same as a mortgage payment. Imagine making 16,000 or so a year and paying ridiculous rent payments and all the other bills to boot. Welcome to Littleton, were the person on Welfare makes more than you! Furthermore, I never seen a town with so many whacko’s wallowing down our "quote" fabulous Main Street. And it seems to get worse. I have to say, Wal-Mart was the start of Littleton's demise. Now everything is in this **** town. Home Depot, and now Lowes. Who would thought that in million years! The simple fact is, this town is not Conway or Concord or whatever. This town can not horde all these people that come shopping, clogging our streets. I can't wait till the day I move out of this **** town.
