Well my totally unscientific observation. This is not being negative but an observation. When I moved to NH, I could not believe the number of heavy drinkers that I met. People that go out for lunch and knock back 3-4 on a work day. I am talking hard drinks not beer.

My husband and I both work with a lot of heavy drinkers. He and his "unit" go out for business lunches 5-6 times a year. People easily knock back 3-4 drinks and then go back to work. I work with quite a few heavy drinkers as well.

Now, it is not like we do not drink. I have no problem with people who drink-so long as they can act responsibly and not injure or kill someone. We are mostly beer drinkers and I love my Labatts Blue. But I cannot believe how much people drink compared to us. I was told once it is because of the long dark winters but I see people drink in the summer too

Ah ha!! Sounds like good news to me. So, what's in that coffee of yours on this fine morning? It's all that cold weather, gotta stay warm somehow! Ah, yes, ... the dark cold local brewskis are always a must have stock in my cooler! And no, I'm not a drunk, but I keep reminding myself that the first step is admitting it.

I sobered up 40 years ago. I can still drinK but keep it down to a couple of shots a week. I like single barrel burbon and dark rum. fortunately the latter is frequently on sale in the package stors. (I love the fact that libertarian NH has a STATE monopoly on selling booze. At expressway rest stops even) . Unfortunately I an a diabetic with a germanic heritage and cannot drink beer (or orange juice for that matter - rum & OJ are made for each other) and there are so many really good beers out there.

Such sufffering is nearly intolerable - like republicans. Joking!
