Default Accommodations in White Mt., area NH

I would like to know where YOU have stayed and what you thought about the place. Be it a B&B, Hotel, or Inn. I have done a complete search of the internet for places to stay but I would like to hear from people with personal experiences.

Snow Village Inn is nice - tucked away from all the commerce and crowds in North Conway but very close. On top of a wooded hill, comes with beach privileges at the beautiful local lake. The restaurant is good. Views are wonderful.

Thumbs up NH places to stay

One of my favorite place to stay is the log cabins at Living water campgrounds in Twin Mountain NH. It is very near Bretton Woods ski area, only 3 miles away but we paid $5000 less than the ski area for a week at their condo. The cabin is large we had 9 people , very cozy with fireplace, cable for the kids and near the river.

Smile Stonehurst Manor

We've enjoyed staying at Stonehurst Manor. We stay in the Manor, but I think they have condos too. There are package deals that include Dinner & Breakfast. The grounds & views are wonderful. The staff is friendly too.

I get to go to NH frequently, so I have pretty much run the gamut of all mom-and-pop motels along old Route 3. If you're looking for reasonably-priced basic accommodations, these places can't be beat. I have stayed at Green Valley Motor Court, Shamrock Motel, and Gilcrest Cottages--all in Thornton and all less than 20 minutes to Franconia Notch State Park. The owners are nice and helpful. The profits they make go in their pockets, not to some major corporation. The only caveat is to make sure you have a cell phone as their rooms do not have phones. You might consider that a plus :-)

I have stayed at the the Hampton Inn multiple times, nice, clean, predictable & affordable (also easier to cancel if you can't make it for whatever reasons, weather etc...)

Also stayed at the Inn at Ellis River in Jackson, NH, very romantic, great breakfast, close to some really nice restaurants in Jackson & N. Conway, leans on the expensive side though. No cancellation policy on short notice...

hope that helps

I'll be staying at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield soon. If it's a place you're interested in, I'd by happy to post a report.

Ok....here's the Mountain View Grand info..sorry...no photos as I was part of a wedding and didnt take any!
The hotel is gorgeous....the renovations that were done are wonderful - modern, yet keeping with the history of the building. It's not as "fancy" as I thought. Many families there enjoying the activities that the resort offers-xcountry skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, ice skating, etc. . Food was excellent as well.
Daretodream....go up for lunch sometime and check it out! OH - and go indulge yourself at the spa

Sounds like they did a nice job! I take it that it's not as "fancy" as the Mt. Washington Hotel? Lunch sounds like a good idea...hmmmm....maybe hubby and I can go there for lunch this weekend for a "late Valentine's Day"

Do they have any kind of "dress code"? When hubby's uncle took us to dinner at the Mt. Washington, he was all freaked out that hubby wouldn't have the "proper attire" I got a kick out of that...for heaven's sake, the man worked at IBM for 25 years and wore a suit and tie - of COURSE he had appropriate attire! His uncle figured since we were way up here (uncle lives in VA) the only clothes we now have or wear are jeans and t-shirts or flannel shirts!

Since you didn't take pictures....sighhhhhh.....if we go for lunch I'll take some for you

Sounds like you had a nice time!
