anybody know any good but cheap moving services in the Manchester area? ill be moving a grand total of 1 mile but don't want to get a uhaul and hire two ***** from craigslist that will probably rob me blind. my top choices are:
-college bound movers
-starving artist movers
-ray the movers
I don't have much stuff and I have already packed most of it. just a few pieces of relatively cheap furniture from a 2br apartment, but its on the third floor. if anyone has any suggestions or has something to say about the above movers, let me know. this will be my first time hiring a moving service. I aint doing it myself because I have an elbow injury. I am looking to spend under $300 if possible(tip included). thanks.
College Bound is super. I've used them three times over the years and have been impressed with them each time. You'll get an accurate quote and great service. You will not be robbed and stuff won't be held hostage.

I am assuming you mean literally.
just got quoted from those guys at $1000. not in my price range
I've used Brooks Moving out of Merrimack for both moves I've had up here. Both times they were excellent, showed up on the dot on time and had me moved in easily within a few hours. Michael Brooks will give you an estimate, for me the estimate was spot on, to the dollar. If I remember from my last move (Oct, 2014) the estimate covered 3 or 4 hours with 3 guys. If the move went over on time, then an hourly rate would kick in. Mine was done within the timeframe. Anyway, I found them extremely professional and pleasant and it was wonderful that I didn't have to touch a thing.
ETA: I don't remember exactly what I paid, I want to say $500-$800. But I had a ton of stuff and was moving a 3-BR house out of Merrimack to Nashua, so YMMV.

I used Mr B's Moving Crew who I got out of movinghelp.com (U-Haul sponsors this service). They are based out of Durham. They were every bit as experienced as regular movers. All they provide is the labor - you provide truck and dolly/furniture pads. I spent about $400 for a 7 hour move. Great experience - they have lots of positive reviews on the site.
I have used Allpro movers out of Manchester twice. Once Bedford to Manchester, and once Manchester to Seacoast. No drama both times. I think most of the professional movers have similar hourly rates for comparable size crews. You may need to find one that does not have a minimum (i.e 4 hrs.).
I used Duey, Movum and Howe about a month ago for my move. Saved me a TON of money vs "full service" movers. I rented and drove the UHaul, their guys loaded and unloaded everything. I found them on UHaul's website, and they are very highly rated.
