Default Commute Time from Pelham area to Boston (Medford) Area

My husband and I are looking at a few homes tonight in the Pelham/Windham area but we both work in the Boston area. I work in Medford and he works in Belmont. Does anyone know how long the commute would roughly be? I've heard it can be really bad. Can someone give me a number?

It really depends on the hours you work. If you hit the road at 7am, you're doomed. I commute from the Manchester area to the I93/128 area. It takes me about 45-50 minutes. I have to be out the door by 5:50am and I head home at 3:15pm. These hours allow me to miss much of the traffic down 93. In the summer, it's not as much an issue Mon-Thurs (Fridays are horrible) since a lot of people take vacations.

Traffic can crawl from River Road to Rte 125, then again from Commerce Way to 128. Belmont might be a more difficult commute.

I have to be at work at 9:00 a.m. So would I be in the bulk of the traffic? My husband's hours may be a little more flexible. So it takes you 45 minutes at 5:50 a.m.? Wow. How many miles is it for you? From Pelham to my work it in Medford it says it's 30 miles.

If you had to be at work at 9am, it might take you one hour (give or take). You would be in the bulk of the traffic. It's about 50 miles for me.

From 495 to 128 can take about 30 - 45 minutes during peak times. Other trouble spots are Exit 3 in NH and Rte 110 to 495. Some days you hit no traffic, others, it's bumper to bumper. Good luck with your house hunting. I've been doing this commute for 4 years and it's worth it when you pull into your driveway and the air just smells better.

By the way, GAS is cheaper in NH if that make you feel better. Fill it up before you cross the border
