The Hobbit?
Wanna, do you mean a movie?
If so, this is terrific news!! Had no idea.
Will Elijah Wood star as Bilbo and Ian McEllan (sp?) as Gandalf?

Wanna, that makes me feel so much better to know that even people who know what they're doing make silly mistakes like that! I felt like a complete idiot when I was almost done sewing the sleeve on, and it just didn't look *quite* right ROTFL!! Of course I am a terrible procrastinator, so I was hurrying and trying to be SuperMom and get this stupid costume done. DH saved the day and brought home a cool costume from the store (gasp!) and guess what? The costume is STILL sitting in the sewing basket, maybe I'll rip that seam out and get it done
Thank you much for that link!! I'll join up later this week, and will definitely post the pictures for some help. I shudder to think of what they are going to put me through this year (and of course I'll have just about a month to get the whole thing done...

Anime is very popular these days. There is a yahoo group called F-costume (for Fantasy; as opposed to H(istoric)-costume) F-Costume : Fantasy & Sci-F Costuming it's one of the groups I help moderate. There lots of people with all sorts of experience and ideas. Best thing if you post there, is to find a pic of what it is you want to work on, since often people can't answer without seeing it. If I know what the shapes are, I have a better time combing through the pattern catalogs to find something similar that can be adapted without too much trouble - there's never something exact.

Yep. NewLine/Warner Bros and MGM have worked out their differences and they will be making 2 movies: The Hobbit, and something that handles the 60 years between the Hobbit and LotR. due out in 2011.
Jackson and company (including WETA) will of course be producing it, but Jackson said he was too busy to handle directing, so Guillermo del Toro (of Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy movies) will be the director. He has already stated that he doesn't want to recast any parts unless the original actors don't want them. Jackson and company are writing the screenplay.
Ian McKellen has said he wants to do Gandalf again, and Andy Serkis even has it on his website that he's set aside the time to do Gollum. Christopher Lee has even said he'd be willing to reprise Saruman (which considering how ticked off he was is, pretty amazing). Rumors are rife about the rest of the actors, but in actual fact no contracts have been signed for anyone. The main one: Bilbo, has not been announced but again there are lots of rumors (most feel that Ian Holms is not healthy enough to handle the rigors of the character in this one). Elijah said that he would love to reprise Frodo IF there was appropriate reason for him to be in it - not just having a part written in (which is good, because Frodo wan't born at that time).. so maybe in the second movie.

I don't get the premise of the other film...

I'm Baaaack!!!
Hello everyone!!
Just letting you know that I now have a new PC and it's awesome! I just finished up installing the new printer and downloading some files. It's a beautiful thing!! I'm still investigating high speed internet. I have an option with my current dial-up carrier to get high speed through dial-up. It's not that much more, so I may go for it. Anything should beat what I have.
I suspect you all have been well? I hope everyone has been behaving themselves....not!
