Vegetables! That's a great one, too. Those of you on NE road trips should get this and sing along--it makes for a fun drive even in pouring rain.

I'm home!!!! didja miss me?

I see there's been some changes: we got new icons!!! how did that happen? they're cute!

And what's with this 'edit' thing for "My Status"? I don't understand. Does that mean I can bump up my rep points???

I took a bunch of pics, but I haven't had a chance to get my camera (or anything else) out of my suitcase yet. Yes, that was a pic of me in my best (and first!) hobbit lady costume. I believe I was holding a small wooden box attempting to look surprised (gotta do something! can't just stand there). I've lost a bit of weight since that pic was taken, hopefully the new ones will look better.

The event was great fun, the KY site was incredible, and boy do my legs and feet hurt from all the walking around (and not being able to wear sneakers!). I put in about 11 miles those 5 days.

It will take me a while to catch up everywhere, but I'm back!

Default re: I'm home!

So I've been going through my pics from the hobbit event. You know, when you have someone else take your pic, you have no control over whether they get all of you in (or cut off your feet), or if they've caught you looking up or down, or even if you're looking at the camera!

Since you've seen my alter-ego "Dora Took", here is what I wore Friday night while directing the costume pageant. You can tell from the pic but that trim is all beaded and sequined (no, I didn't do it - I bought it off ebay).

Here is a shot of the costume I've been working on all year (off and on). Biggest problem is that I'm stuck in MD and he's in KY! made fitting really a PITA. but it mostly looks good.

I also got to pet alpacas! they're very sweet. They hum like cats!!

How cool, Wanna! All of it! Is that a real hobbit hole or just a prop? Thanks for posting these

Wanna, Great photos!!! Your costumes came out amazing!!! Your hobbit guy looks great. I am so hiring your for my sewing teacher.

I love Alpacas, they are such a beautiful animal. I have gotten to pet a few in my time. They have the goofiest(?) faces.

Welcome back Wanna! LOVE that costume--I'm in line with Suzet for sewing lessons (I still haven't put that sleeve back on yet--oh look, it's October again in just a couple of minutes. That makes a YEAR since I've sewn (sewn? sewed? Hmmmph!!) Anyway, the costumes you created are fantastic--you look like something out of a fantasy novel

Those alpacas are so cute--much moreso than llamas. I used to think they were one and the same, but the llamas aren't nearly so sweet. I'd have some in a heartbeat if I had the land... good think we DO NOT have land, or it would be a regular farm around here...

thanks everyone!

Bag End is just a facade. Mr Bilbo and Gandalf made it in Bilbo's garage (where it is now being stored). The yellow main wall is plywood, the bricks outlining the door and the windows are styrofoam, the green door is styrofoam with a knob stuck on it. It's made of 5 panels bolted together (the furring strips hide the joints). They did some really impressive work!

The costumes that everyone wore were really great, and we had so much fun. Once I move up, I'll be happy to teach anyone who wants 'remedial sewing' - it's really easier than you think it is.
