Hi Country-Happy St Patty's day. I am very bummed-I tried to get my Shamrock Shake but they were all out at McDonalds. Luckily I had one over the weeked but I wanted one on the actual St Patty's day.

How is the computer? Is it fixed or are you still picking us up on satellite from the mother ship?

Having a little trouble living in a "staged" home?! ...or just need a transitional place before New Hampshire?

If you post a link to a newspaper story or chain store or something along those lines, that is ok. Just not personal sites. Otherwise, you could post, say Vals' real estate website. But see that would be personal link. Does that make sense?? Lol. I hope I am explaining this right
Ok, got it! Makes sense to me. Thanks!

I hope you didn't actually take a bite and chew! I would like to know more about the train too. I wonder if it's reliable as far as time schedule?

Then we waited for another plane for 3 hours, because the previous one had a problem with the fuel pump. Then I spent the next 3 and a half hours listening to the drunk woman in back of me, tell people how she was a "nervous" flyer who was on anti-anxiety medications. And all this I endured without meds for my panic attacks. I hate flying LOL.
I usually don't have a problem with flying, but after hearing your story I think I want to learn more about taking the train, lol !!

nicole, sorry you didn't get your St. Patrick's Day shake...glad to hear you got one this weekend though...good thing you went earlier. Guess they didn't plan on the demand for green shakes. So what does a Shamrock Shake taste like? Is it minty...or is it just vanilla tinted green? Chocolate & mint is good...do they have those? They need to expand their Shamrock Shake menu & not run out on the Big Day!!

country, greetings to you & glad to hear you are well taken care of on the mothership. Maybe you can use your connections & convince the Golden Arches to expand their Shamrock Shake menu & to not run out in the future.

I do want to be able to travel back & forth though, since we left lots of friends there. It sounds like you'd recommend the train...is it Amtrak? Another train? Any idea how long it takes to travel coast to coast? Do they serve decent food? What are bathrooms like? How often does it stop? It still sounds like it could be a panic trigger to me to be on a fast moving bullet...but I'm assuming you don't feel too confined.

Shifting gears, if you're looking for a quiet place where you can enjoy space from neighbors which still has shopping access you should have many NH towns to choose from. And, because I know your current area so well you should know that although all the shopping mainstays are here, the overall(and overwhelming) generic feel is not. There are still many independent shops/restaurants around, within small towns and cities, which I found to be a huge relief.
Hi Lisa. Lmao!! I love it. The pillow might of tasted better than the sandwich.

Yes we will be coming on Amtrak. We are going to get a sleeper car that comes with a bathroom and shower in the room. All meals are included in the price of the ticket. They have an actual dining car. There is also a snack car, where you can get sandwiches and pizzas, sodas, stuff like that. There is a bar car too. I really enjoy riding on the train. It takes a bit to get used to, cuz it can be bumpy sometimes, but the motion of the train is overall relaxing. You dont feel closed in at all. There are all the different cars you can walk to, or you can hang out in your room and lay on the bed or sit in the chair and look out the window at all the awesome scenery. It stops at various different places. The longest stop will be in Chicago, it is a 7 hour layover. So we are going to check out downtown Chicago while waiting. I am looking forward to it. You can catch the train in Van Nuys, if you dont want to drive all the way down to Union Station in LA.

I have heard from so many people that the Mexican food isnt as good as we have out here. Is this true? Yeah, as far as shopping you know exactly what we have out here. I would like to find a place that has some of what we have here in NH. I think I would be lost if I couldnt just take off for the day and shop somewhere.

You seem pretty happy there, I hope we can be too.

Colin - Congratulations on the engagement of your daught to a man you like!

I missed the original post. I'm assuming she will be getting married after you move to NH?

Do you need a place to rent while you're in NH waiting for the house to sell? If so, if there's an only paper for the area, check that out - Up here there are often rooms to rent in private houses, there may be something like that in the area you'll be in. They're usually cheaper than an apartment, no lease, etc. Just a thought.......

I think I missed this as well. Congrats, so much excitement going on with your family Colin. A wedding at the farm, that sounds really nice. Do I remember correctly that you're coming here from Missouri? How much longer till you're in New Hampshire? Like someone said, nothing like adding more to an already full plate, but when that plate is filled with good things and blessings, well that's a little easier to take...
