They need to expand their Shamrock Shake menu & not run out on the Big Day!!

country, greetings to you & glad to hear you are well taken care of on the mothership. Maybe you can use your connections & convince the Golden Arches to expand their Shamrock Shake menu & to not run out in the future.
Hi Buggaboo-yes it is a green minty shake and they are yummy. I have been having them every St. Patty's Day since I was a kid.

Lisa, if I'm remembering right, I think it took something like 3 days to get out there, could have been a little longer. I'm going to ask my mom to come here to post some about her experiences. She departed from South Station in Boston in November, came back in February (I think) and from what she says, it was very relaxing, not a high-speed bullet train whizzing across the continent, and she took tons of pictures of the ever-changing landscape. She also had the long layover at Union Station in Chicago, and I believe may have changed trains there as well. Boo wondered about keeping to schedules--I think they pretty much kept on schedule, but there were several times when the Amtrak needed to pull over to let a freight train go past. Something about the goods-trains having the first right of way? Anyway, we all were amazed that she did it, and all by herself too

<<I seem to have lost the ability to "multi-quote" so am trying to respond to as many posts as possible here>>

Never having been to So Cal, I can only believe others who can compare that the Mexican food is different, not as good. Figuring in the proximity to Mexico, I would say that's to be expected. We just don't see a huge population of Mexicans here in New England (it's a little colder here for much of the year) as you might in So Cal, Florida, etc. So it's not going to be as authentic as it could... I also notice things like Chinese food here in NH isn't nearly as good as in Massachusetts, and if I want the real thing, I've got to head into Chinatown for dim sum. And Suzet, if you can't find it in New Hampshire, you're still just a couple of hours to Boston, and every sort of eating experience you can imagine! And as far as the shopping, there are plenty of malls, but not alot of very high-end stores. For that you may need to go into Massachusetts (not necessarily into Boston, there are some great places to shop even in Newburyport, Natick, Winchester, Wellesley, etc. without the crowds of Boston.)

<<switching gears & changing lanes...>>

I didn't realize that McD's HAD a Shamrock Shake, but it sounds yummy, especially if it is chocolate and mint. I couldn't tell you the last time I hit a drive through there--maybe 6 months or so? I did want to try the eggnog shake that I kept seeing advertised on the sign, but kept putting myself off "get it tomorrow" and tomorrow never came Glad you got at least one on over the weekend, and maybe Country can beam one down from the Mothership for you

! I didn't get my corned beef and cabbage yesterday, but like Bryfry (being the frugal yankees that we are!) I'll see if it's on sale today, or at least by the end of the week LOL

<< on another note...>>

Reading Carbondated's story, what a nightmare! Maybe they were just testing that fuel pump by going full speed ahead! The worst is when they keep you trapped on the plane for hours on end--I've never experienced that but DH is/was a frequent flyer back and forth to St. Louis, and after going through that once, he always brings plenty of food in his carry-on now (not sure what the rules are, haven't flown for a couple of years now)

<< and finally >>

Thank you Buggaboo and Suzette for your answers to the copyright question. For what it's worth, in this particular instance, I'm going to post the link, because they don't sell anything. This particular website is an online group of naturalists who prefer that people join to share information than monetary donations.

OK time for me to get to work! You all have a great day

A few things...

First, Congrats on your daughter's engagement, Colin! What a happy event to look forward to!

Next, thanks, Suzet & Valerie about the train info. About how long does it take to get from CA to Boston anyway? I promise I'll stop bugging you & will call Amtrak with my excessive questions Valerie, it's inspiring to me that your mother did it at her age.

Hi lisa, dont even worry about the questions. That is what we are all here for isnt it? Lol. The route I was going to take was from LA to Albany, NY. I was going to stop off in Vermont first. So for my trip it was going to be 2 1/2 days on the train. To go further to Boston it might be 3 days total.

Hey, I decided to continue this conversation from pictures of NH on this side ... hope nobody minds ...

LOL ... Not all Sibes will eat a pet cat, but they will chase ANYTHING that runs, including little kids, ... I have two cats adopted as strays ... sigh ... and another at my door. My Sibe was brought in as a puppy and basically raised with these cats and still I still fear for their lives. Glade will wrap his jaws around the cats heads in play mode, but if he ever were to catch one while running, I'm afraid it won't be a pretty ending ... for the cat. They are super hunters ... he's caught, killed, and eaten (as much as he could before I pried his jaws apart to take his toy away) squirrel, rabbit, birds ... don't ask how, because I don't know. On the other side of things, I can't really say he's as loyal as say a lab, Sibes are very independent and like it that way. They will respect their owner though with high regards. For instance if my hubby calls for him and whistles the same way I do, he won't come. I trained him to come on demand by whistling instead of yelling "come". When I whistle to him he will come running at full throttle no mater what he is doing. What a good boy!

Um, maybe I will get my daughter a nice kick back lab. Haha. I love dogs very much, but I love my cats more. In our home, the cats pretty much rule the roost. I honestly dont know if I would want to put that much work into a dog. Yes they are gorgeous that is for sure. But I dont know think I would want to have that worry in the back of my mind. As it is, we can leave the house with my duaghters beared dragon, the 3 cats, and the 2 dogs, and come home and everyone is fine, usually all asleep together on my bed.

Sorry guys, didnt mean to hijack the pic thread.
