looking to move to that area in a couple years........what`s the job market like for a retired NYC cop?

what kind of job does a retired cop do?
Bedford and Amherst are both well to do areas, hope your pension is good.

comparing the prices of homes my $400,000 here makes me lower middle class but up there i can get a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom on a couple of acres, whats a good definition of "well to do" up there?

the average 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with acreage in Bedford is around $500K.....there are a lot more in the higher range. Amherst is higher priced than Bedford
you might find something in the $400K range, if you go for less than an acre

$559,884 is the average price of homes in Bedford
I was surprised to find the average is lower in Amherst at $474,024. Amherst has a more country feel than Bedford.

i was looking on weichert.com and remax.com and they had some good looking houses on there betwen 375-400, i don`t know what area they are in, but i was assuming there were no "bad" areas around there

Bedford is close to the Manchester airport, so there are some bad places.....or homes that can't sell........
taxes are fairly high compared to neighboring towns as well.
there is a strip club called Mark's Showplace on route 3, but not worth the trip...IMO
bad areas? not really...no bad areas in the state...LOL
