I may have used the wrong verbage originally.
So knowing all of your other criteria (trash pick up, closer stores, better road plowing in the winter, 60-90 mins from Boston and close to the beach) the other piece of the puzzle is being closer to your daughter's specialist. Where is he or she located? There are MANY towns that could work well for you. I'm thinking along the Rte 101 corridor. Most towns in the Portsmouth area (Rye, North Hampton, etc) will be much more expensive (either to rent or purchase) than towns just a bit further inland. How important is the school system for your family?

I guess not very, since she mentioned they homeschool.

AFAIK, some of the towns in the Seacoast with trash pickup are Exeter, Stratham, Newmarket, Dover, Hampton.

You can use the community profiles to find out more about each community and what services are available: New Hampshire Community Profiles | Data and Analysis | Economic & Labor Market Information Bureau (ELMI) | NH Employment Security

Many of my homeschooling friends and clients transfer to public high school (where they are usually well ahead of their peers) to have access to a wider variety of classes to choose from, including AP and college prep classes, scholarship opportunities, various clubs and social activities. So the good school system continues to be a factor.

Some of these threads are crazy. Do not chose where you live based on trash pickup. You can get someone to pick up your trash for you anywhere in Southeast nh for short money. I cannot think of a place in Southeast nh that is more than 15 minutes from a grocery store, my guess is that the vast majority of people in se nh are within 5 -10 minutes from a grocery store, walmart, drug store, home improvement store, etc.

Natural gas, public water/sewer are a different story.

Thanks. My daughter's specialist is in Manchester. Elem school is not that important to us as we homeschool, but we do want t send them to school for 9th-12th so we would desire a decent highschool.

thanks. I live in central NH which seems to be quite diff from SE NH. we are so far away from everything . do not have trash pick up, or city water etc, . it sounds like maybe i'd be better off looking in SE NH vs where I am now (which I figured since I also desire to be closer to the beach) I got a couple good areas to check out through this thread, thanks everyone!

Tom me, trash pickup is overrated. I usually an heading out Saturday morning to do errands anyway (Lowes, the town library, etc.) so why not just grab the trash. If the town does not offer trash pickup, you can usually find a company that will do it. Here is an example: MD's Trash Removal - Services

Momto7, do you have 7 kids? If so, the school system would be very important, correct?

I just got lost in Manchester (brain fade) and drove around some very neat, and some not so neat, neighborhoods. By comparison to many places Manchester is a small town with many amenities. I suggest checking it out. Pay attention to the Northeast corner.
