The Good & Bad about Pembroke
Thinking about checking out Pembroke for opening my Diner. Is it a nice town to raise a family? Schools? Etc?

Where are you looking to put the diner. I lived around Pembroke for most of my life and now I live in RI. I can probably help you out!

Thanks xfountaingrl! Does it have a nice small town flavor to it like the town Bedford Falls from the movie 'Its A Wonderful Life?'

Has Pembroke got a nice small town flavor?
I have lived here in Pembroke on Glass Street for over three years now. I am semi-retired as I build and repair computers in my home and in the winter months I run my 2002 Ford F350 diesel snow plow truck. I live very close to the Suncook Village which for the most part is the downtown area of Pembroke. This would be the best place to locate your diner if you so decide to go forth with your idea. The only problem I see is that the Pembroke and Suncook area is already overly graced with many diner type restaraunts and pizza/submarine sandwich/seafood type restaraunts. The ones that suceed have been here for many many years, however every now and then someone new will come along and struggle for a while before they fold.
As far as the town having that warm small town flavor... I would say most definitely YES. I moved here when my daughters were in their early teens and they became aclomated to their surroundings very quickly and fell in love with the area. One good thing about living here is that we are centrally located between the two largest cities, Manchester and Concord, NH., which both have malls and many excellent eateries. And Pembroke is several minutes from the Route 93 expressway.
Good luck with your endeavor.

The good about Pembroke: small town flavor, close to employment opportunities, and they seem to be concerned about schools.
The bad about Pembroke: taxes are extraordinarly high, growth seems quite stagnant, and it is directly downwind from the power plant.

Geez Granite Stater, how did you find this thread? I think I started it like over a year ago! Anyway, this truly says something about breathing new life into something!
I still am seriously considering opening a diner!

I think the poster before me brought the thread back from the abyss
I wish you luck with the diner proposition. Pembroke might be a good location to capture some nearby traffic coming on Manchester Street (3 Highway).
