I've always wanted to spend a night at the Mt Washington, and I'm debating doing that this winter to celebrate something with my wife. Is it worth the money, and as special as I seem to think it is?

Yes it is.
The do have packages.
Price is higher for mountain view rooms. But not really necessary as you can just walk outside for views.
Go for it.

Totally worth it! Christmas is my personal favorite time of the year for the hotel but if you guys are skiers they have some awesome packages with Bretton Woods!

Maybe go during the fall foliage season? Nothing I like better than the White Mountains area at that time

I would suggest this time of year preferably after a snowfall. The view of Mt. Washington during a Winter sunset is astounding.
