Default Retreat in New Hampshire

I am looking for a scenic but comfortable inn in New Hampshire middle of April for a 2 days stay. I like nature yet I also like comfort...any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you!

Thank you!

If you do not mind tourist areas then I would say North Conway.
If you want to avoid big crowds I would say Jefferson.

Hello! I just spent last weekend in the Franconia area. Very nice and mountains and beauty all around. We spent some time in Bethlehem and ate there too ... very friendly community. There is plenty of hiking nearby and plenty to do in the outdoors. We stayed at a hotel though which gave us good rates and a game room and swimming pool for the kids in between outdoor activities. Sorry, can't mention any Inns though. Maybe somebody would have more specific info if you know what area/region you are looking into visiting.

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax...hike, ski, or just hang out Jefferson has some beautiful views. There are two Bed-and-Breakfast type inns in town. Both are lovely old Victorians. One is on Route 2 with a huge wrap-around porch. The other is down the hill from Route 2...no big porch but it has 2 rooms with hottubs, one in the room and one on a private balcony. I love the view from this room. You can see the Presidentials, Cherry Mountain and all the way over to Cannon Mountain. Sometimes you see shooting stars at night. The breakfasts at both places are very good.

If you decide to stay in Jefferson dinner options are limited. If you are willing to make the 20 minute drive to Gorham there is an excellent little restaurant in an old bank building. I don't know if I'm allowed to mention its' name here but the innkeepers should know of it...or you could PM me for the particulars.

If you are looking for night life Jefferson is not the place to be. North Conway would be a better choice. There always seems to be something going on most nights and there are a large number of restaurants to choose from. Likewise there are a number of choices for a place to stay from motel to quaint inns to resorts.

Hope this helps

wMw
