Healthy Food Stores in New Hampshire
Not that I am a healthy living freak, but.... well, I am somewhat. How popular (or available) are healthy living, organic foods, alternative medicine and such in NH?
I can tell it is a lot more popular in the north-west than in the south. There we had three natural food stores in 10 000 town. Now in the south our local natural food store (only one for quite a big city!) is hardly different from a regular grocery store.
What about New England and NH?

Concord has the Coop and they just built a new brand new building on I beleive South Main Street. I have been to the old location but not the new one.
Concord also has Granite State Natural foods on North State Street. I believe I read not too long ago that they were building a second market downtown.
Portsmouth has a really neat natural food grocery store that I love. It has a lot of neat things and you know what I am drawing a total blank and I have been there numerous times. It is by the Planet fitness-maybe someone remembers I will ask my husband the name or try to remember.
I believe Manchester has A-1 Market near a newer Shaws. Was only there once-it was ok.

The market in Portsmouth that I think you are talking about is Philbrick's Fresh Market. Also in Exeter there is the Blue Moon Market and Green Earth Cafe.

Shaws also has an organic section called Wild Harvest.
Also, although I don't buy alot of organic foods there, A Market in Manchester is where I get all my supplements, vitamins, etc. They were one of the few places that I found kept all probiotics refrigerated and not just on shelves. And their staff is helpful, spending as much time with me as necessary... There is no replacement for good service IMO

Yes, Philbrick's in Portsmouth is good (but expensive). It's more of an upscale/gourmet grocery than a health food store, but they carry a lot of organic products (Annie's cheddar bunnies etc) and good meats. I absolutely love it.
I was really surprised by the amount of organic food at Hannaford's in North Conway - REALLY surprised.
Nashua is getting a Whole Foods (date unknown, but it's on their website) and has a Trader Joe's.
Also, a lot of farms sell meat and produce that isn't certified, but is still organic or mostly so. It's expensive to get certified so a lot of small farmers don't bother, but their stuff is locally produced and high-quality.

Durham Marketplace, near the town center also has a good selection of organics and health foods, and there are rumblings of a branch to open across from the bowling alley in Newmarket.

Hanover has a Co-op Food store with a great produce section, meat department, a nice wine selection, a bulk food section and cheeses...oh so many cheeses. It's one of my favorite stops whenever I get to that part of the state.
Littleton is in the process of opening their own Co-op Food store.
