What goes on in Bristol? Looking at some real estate on Main st to rent out. Is this a desireable area to live? I am wondering what the demographics are in that area. Who would live in that section of town? Also has potential for a business to be run from that same place. Any comments appreciated.

You're lucky that I just happen to live in Bristol.
It's not a big town, about 3,000 residents, but it can get busy in the summer with all the vacationers coming to Newfound Lake. However, the lake is in the northern part of the town (where I live), not the town centre.
Naturally, the most desirable real estate is near the lake, but downtown Bristol is a nice place to live for all intents and purposes. Crime isn't an issue... in fact, there's nothing particularly exciting about it. The town is 96% white, and sometimes the residents can seem rather...provincial... but not all of them. The town is a bit poorer than the NH average, though.
There are quite a few small businesses in the town centre, which seem to do fairly well. Moreso during the summer, of course. All in all, Bristol really does enjoy a good location. Newfound is a little more off the beaten path than Winnipesaukee, so it doesn't suffer from overcrowding, and the whole area really is quite beautiful.
I-93 is less than 10 minutes from the centre of town, so you're never too far from "civilization." For entertainment and better shopping, you can go to Plymouth, Meredith, or Tilton.
You can see some of my photos from Bristol here, and a video from driving through the centre of town here.
I know this is an old post, and thanks for responding Verseau, just wondering what anyone thinks is lacking in Bristol? I know there is a little row of stores on Main st with a good pizza and sandwhich shop. What do people like to do or need when getting 2 miles south of the lake? I'm fishing for ideas still on investing in a property there. It looks like it could be used as apartments or perhaps something else? What would summer visitors going by to the lake want to stop for?
