Default Gilmanton info

We are looking at possibly purchasing a home in Gilmanton. Can anyone offer some pros and cons of the town. I also have a 4th grader so any school info would also be a great asset to us

thanks in advance

Hi sling! I live next door in Belmont. I work with a woman who has lived most of her life in Gilmanton. The girls at work told me Payton place was written by a local author there. Its a small town, spread out over some beautiful acreage and winds in and out of the mountainous hills. Her kids are 16 and 18 now. I'll ask her tomorrow about your questions and see if she can shed some personal light. (She was also a teacher's aid for 10 years for kindergarten kids.)

I do know that she has had a hard time getting around this winter out of her streets. The kids are going later to school now, until 3:30 due to all the snow days they have had. Maybe next winter won't be so harsh. I'll get back to you after I talk with my co worker.

Some nice lakes in Gilmanton so some pricey homes and wealthly property owners compared to nearby towns.

New year round library just opened or about to open across from the elemtary school.

About 35 min drive to primary stores in Concord (walmart sears, etc.)

Not much in the way of stores etc. in Gilmanton.

Not much summer or tourist traffic, that part of state is sort of between all the travel book locations...

In Gilmanton, I suppose the lakes are the big thing in town...
