MANCHESTER — With just days to go until the mid-term elections, a Hillsborough County Superior Court judge has blocked the state from implementing a new election law known as Senate Bill 3.

Judge Kenneth Brown issued his injunction Monday after hearing weeks of testimony from witnesses called by the state in defense of the law and by the League of Women Voters and New Hampshire Democratic Party challenging the law.

Implementation of the election law will be suspended pending further legal action.

This obviously helps the democrats for the mid term election. Will this get appealed all the way to the Supremes? Maybe the law can be enacted in time for the 2020 election.

Any new law should be implemented well in advance of an election. You have to give people time to learn about it and understand it.

From the article it sounds like some new page of legalese that people would be presented with when they arrive at the polls. You can't expect people to read and understand something like that on the spot when they get to the front of the line. That's just common sense.

Both democrats and republicans have trouble reading and understanding legal documents. It's an equal opportunity problem.

I wish any state would step up and rid the world electronic voting. Watch Hacking Democracy. I have zero faith in the election process. IMO, time is better spent on this.

Good, another effort at voter suppression defeated, or at least delayed. Those of a certain right-wing persuasion have been attacking the right to vote for 200 years, the current efforts are no different from poll "taxes" or "literacy" tests. Jim Crow has no place in modern America. Hopefully Americans will turn away from the creeping fascism of the current GOP/Trump party.

"Voter suppression" ? That's actually funny
Only votes that republicans want to "suppress" is non residents, illegals and dead people.most of which are a big voting bloc for democrats. Oh,by the way...the race card is really getting tired

Seeing that non-residents, illegals and dead people don't vote then the bill is clearly about stopping minorities and the poor from voting. Voter suppression it is.

As I always tell conservatives: if you don't want to be called racist, don't do or say racist things. Simple, really.

If Google worked in New Hampshire you might be able to find articles such as these:

Vote fraud is virtually non-existant in modern times. Meanwhile hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people, mostly blacks and other minorities, are being denied the right to vote due to purges and Voter ID initiatives and the closing of polling places. Guess which political persuasion is responsible for that.
