Default small towns with rail transport

Does anyone have any info of New Hampshire small towns with rail transportation? One good aspect of a small town is having a train we could travel on and I think it would be just so practical and romantic!

If you're talking about a scenic ride type train, there is one in Conway/North Conway. If you're talking about one that will allow you to commute for work, you might take a look at this:

Amtrak Downeaster - All the Right Connections

Thanks for the heads up Lisa G! I will definitely get involved in that thread! All I can say for this so called "Workforce Housing Requirement is ;

I wasn't aware of this movement. Are there any laws backing up how much of this has to exist in a given area?

The site at the Workforce Housing Council says this is intended to be permanent housing for "those whose income is generally below
120% of the area median." How is this any different from what the Feds refer to as "Section 8" housing more commonly known in most any town as "The Projects?"

Thanks from me as well Lisa & Comet.

Here is the site if anyone is interested: New Hampshire Workforce Housing Council

It isn't any different (except perhaps to Greg's understanding of what an Executive's Pay is, and therefore what is less than Executive's pay). Perhaps this discussion can move back to the Workforce Housing thread?

But we digress from the initial thread of any towns with railways.... I don't know of any small towns with railroads since it takes a lot of money to run them, and they're not likely to stop in the little towns because there's not enough to pay for the stop.

I had somehow missed that thread. I just found it. Thanks for the heads up Wanna.

And now back to regularly scheduled thread programming.

Hi WANNA, Sandbar, Lisa & Mtflyer!!

Actually the reason rail transport is almost totally absent from New Hampshire and much of the USA is mainly because of how the feds began penalizing passenger rail during the Johnson Admin with his so called Welfare Great Society! There used to be so many different private train companies and when LBJ came in he stopped funding passenger rail lines. Just think our nations highway system is always funded and maintained by the fed but the Democrat Congress felt rail was out dated and believed all passenger ground transportation should be on the highways! Can you see the hypocrisy here!!!??? On one hand these Eco Fanatics complain about Car Exhaust and on the other they have destroyed our national rail system but no longer giving equal funding to our passenger rail networks!

And for those of you Eco Green Friendly Adam's Apples out there, Heavy Rail Trains are the most Fuel Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Mode of Transportation on our planet!

The town that most reminds me of the fantasy in my head of small town America, is Canterbury. Just the sweetest thing you ever saw. People nice. Bridges, steeples, the works.

Default Eating coyote

Passenger rail in europe thrives and makes amtrack look silly. Eupoe's trains "book along about 70 mph"+ are comfortable and quite a scenic way to travel. a ride for 100 miles is only a bit over $20.00, and far more comfortable than driving yourself, and with a dining car. trains are full of 20-something people travelling from place to place to couch surf with friends for the weekend.

We have perfectly meat sold in stores! I've heard of people being hungry enough to eat the posterior of a skunk, but I'd sooner go out for pizza than eat coyote, or skunk. We don't eat pig jowls either!
