DH is doing the sound for some kind of a bluegrass festival thing in Franconia toward the end of July (maybe the last weekend? I can't remember now)....If there's going to be BBQ, I'd bet that one will have it
The bluegrass festival in Compton may also have BBQ, but haven't been there, so I don't really know.

Littleton.
It has an active main street, many locally owned businesses, plenty of history, and a good location.

Thayers Inn
I will be in Littleton in the end of March and thinking to staying at Thayers Inn. I've seen some info on this site before but can't find it. Is it nice, haunted and hard to get a reservation? I'm not sure what day I will be up to Littleton yet. Thank you for any info.

Littleton, New Hampshire
That might help a bit. The location is super good right on Main Street although I have not been in the rooms. Balliwicks is located right underneath the Thayer Inn and I love love that place to eat. Chen Thai is a very quick walk ( one or two minutes) Oasis right across the street. If you are looking for clothes Bella Funk is a little further up Main street about a three minute walk and I totally love the styles they carry! Don't forget the book store is also right on Main Street as well if you need a book and they have a coffee shop now.

I'll add Madison to the small town list.
It is fairly rural, a farming community in days of old. It has a "main drag" witha few storse, but you'd have to hitch the buck board today to go to the big town of Conway for supplies and groceries.
Population in July 2007: 2,292
This area was one of the first to have land grants set aside for soldiers who had survived the French & Indian wars. The land covered by these grants, parts of Eaton and Albany, was incorporated in 1852 as "Madison," in honor of President Madison, who was born 100 years earlier.
The town has a total area of 41.0 square miles, and 2.2 sq mi of water. Madison is drained by Forrest Brook and Silver Lake to the south and by Pequawket Brook to the north.

Happy to hear you got the reservations! Be prepared, though - if it passes, I *think* April 1st is the target date for the start of the Main Street Renovation project, but I may be wrong. You should be able to get around Main Street without a problem if you're walking, driving you may have to take alternate routes, but when all is said and done, Main Street should be beautiful!
