Yes, I agree (and the Courier did an article showing that the Littleton Shaw's has some of the highest prices among Shaw's stores in the state), but the Co-op was higher for most items. Part of the reason there was such enthusiasm about having a second grocery store in Littleton was that it might put pressure on Shaw's to have more competitive prices, but in order for that to happen, the new store has to set a standard. The Co-op isn't doing it.
There are no warehouse stores within reasonable shopping distance, though there's a Wal Mart with a small grocery section in Littleton, and a Super Wal Mart about twenty minutes away.

The biggest difference I found between Shaw's and the Co-Op was that the produce was MUCH fresher at the Co-Op. I've always thought Shaw's had high prices, although with their card, you can get some good deals. Hopefully as the Co-Op moves forward, they will lower their prices and put some pressure on Shaw's.
If I remember correctly, someone (the general manager maybe?) was the owner(?) of Butson's which used to be where Shaw's is now? (That was before we moved here, so I'm not positive of the name)....If that's true, then I would suspect prices may come down at the co-op to be more competitive, but, like everything else, I imagine it will depend on the prices they are charged for products. I'm willing to give the co-op some time to work the pricing aspect out, and it should be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
I was not impressed with the Super Wal-Mart in Woodsville (I think that's where it is?). I wouldn't go back there unless I really had to for some reason.
Slalom - Was there anything in the paper about what's going on with McDonald's? I haven't gotten the paper in the last couple of weeks but keep catching partial info on the radio - something about McDonald's moving into someplace else and closing their current location, with the new location bringing an anticipated large influx of traffic off I-93? It seems every time the radio has their report I'm working and when I take off my headset, I get the tail end of the story!

I didn't see anything in the paper, though I didn't look carefully, but the rumors I've heard -- from several different sources -- is that McDonald's is going to move to the Continental 93.

Maybe at one time the general manager owned Butsons I don't know but the old Butsons is now Tractor Supply. When Shaws bought Butsons it was a small chain but owned by a huge coroporation of Super Value people tend to forget that for some reason and b$Itch about Shaws not that some of it isn't justified but not all As far as McDonalds I assume that would be moving into the space that houses the hotel that is the Continental 93. I think that hotel is kind of ratty in my opinion and I suppose that McDonalds would have the money to freshen it up

Thanks for the "history lesson"!
I think I did hear it was the Continental 93 - I believe the radio said McD's is going to tear it down and put up a new building, but not sure......

The best place to get info such as the above (whats going on with McDs) is your local town's website, specifically minutes of the Planning & Zoning board. You can read all about it here:

Hi Mr Comet! The only Greenhouse Farm I know of is near Berlin called The Round Table Farm? I think they do have produce? Well I should say that is what our RE person told us.
