Dare,
Well, you escaped the empire once, and now you return to the empire state. I like many areas of Upstate NY but the tax burden is an extraordinarily tough pill to swallow. I wish you and your family the best.

Dare you will be missed so much! Stay on NH board and give us updates! Your fertilizer will travel anywhere you plant yourself, keep in touch and give us new adventures to share!

Thank you Wanna - Yes, I know you wish us the best. It was a very hard decision, but one that needed to be made. Obviously our family is thrilled, as are our friends in the area, so that's a good thing and something to look forward to!

Anyway, I'm glad you'll be able to enjoy one last summerfest before you have to go... and always remember no matter where you are, there is always a spot for ya here

Thank you Val - Don't worry, I won't "go T" on the NH forum
I'm sure I'll still follow the NH forum, just to get updates on everyone and see what's going on here in Littleton - we do like the town very, very much and I really wanted to see how they decided to utilize the "new" opera house - there's so much potential there! There's a report on wmur about the revitalization of the opera house and the work they're doing on Main Street - The inside shots of the opera house are beautiful!
In any case, we felt the pull to come here for a reason and evidently we've 'fulfilled' that reason (whatever it was ) and now it's time to go back.....

My escrow has been extended a few weeks so condo has not sold yet. We still need to put my husband's house on the market. There is so much cleaning up to do. He was a bachlor for so long and being out in the boonies it's easier to collect stuff (junk). I was hoping to get to Littleton and start taking the pictures of the downtown renovation, but things take time.... I look forward to hearing your posts about NY. Best wishes.

Thank you libertariangirl - I wish we could have met, as well. I understand the "collecting stuff" - We cleaned out a bunch of stuff before we moved here and DH is a "collector" and accumulated MORE stuff since we've been here that we have to go through! <g>
There's a short clip here: Federal Funds Help Revitalize Littleton, Dalton - New Hampshire News Story - WMUR Manchester about Littleton and Dalton - it shows some of what they're doing on Main Street and it shows the renovated Opera House, so you can get a little "fix" <g>
There's another poster here from Littleton, who will be living fairly close to you as well - roerinaci (I hope I spelled that right!). She and her husband are very nice people - hopefully you will get to meet them when you move!

GraniteStater - Yeah, that's the downside of moving back. Depending on where you are in NY, the area we'll be in is either "upstate" or sort of a limbo <g>. People who live/work in NYC call it upstate - to me, Upstate is Albany and north. We lived with the tax burden for 50 years, so we've had a bit of a break the 3 years we've been here. Even with the state's income tax, DH will be able to get a job there that will bring home more than the one he has here.
When we first moved here, he was making enough so we could visit/spend time in New York a few times a year. When he lost his job last year and was out of work for approximately 4 months, he finally found another job, but it pays quite a bit less, so we don't have the "extra" to visit, we haven't been back in almost a year now. If there were more better paying jobs in the area, we most likely would stay, but it's getting harder to make ends meet with what he's making now, let alone any kind of traveling, and it seems I'm always working to make sure we cover the bills.
We know what we're getting into in NY, we'll be back with more traffic, more "hustle and bustle", but the economy in that area is already rebounding and there are quite a few job opportunities for DH so we'll feel more comfortable financially and we are going to rent. Who knows, at some point, once the family issues are settled and if we can sock away more in our savings with DH making more, we may one day return to NH......I really do love the state and the people we've met - so "down to earth" and "real"!

Thank you Kat - I had to laugh at your "your fertilizer will travel anywhere...." hehehe (I have such a demented mind! )
I will keep in touch and will at least be surfing the forum to see how things are going in NH - I hope it stays the same....and I will definitely keep up on things in Littleton. Even though we've only been here 3 years, it truly is a beautiful and serene place to live.........

Dare-I am so sorry to see you leave NH. Good wishes to you and your hubby. You have a great and positive attitude about this move, as you do about everything.
Good luck and keep in touch.
