Me, too! I can hardly wait. I can't imagine ever not locking doors, but you never know! We do what we have to do here, because it's all we can do to have some control over our safety. I don't mean to give the impression that there is constant crime where we live, but we need to be careful and cognizant of possibilities. That probably sounds foreign to most of you, but that's how living in Miami is. My daughter-in-law's bicycle, complete with toddler seat attached to the back, was stolen from the secluded backyard of her townhouse last week. At least there was no bodily harm - it could have been worse.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes all of us to relax about safety once we move, and it's something we're all looking forward to. I want my granddaughters to grow up differently than the way we live now.

Countrylv22, the more I research this, the closer I am leaning towards Newbury which is on the bottom of Sunapee Lake! Seems like it is quaint enough community with a wonderful civic spirit. I plan to visit the end of July if all goes well!

Oh no, not another town lost to global warming???

I understand what you meant but, thanks for the belly laugh anyway, Comet.

Newbury is only a 20 min. drive for me and I pass through it a few times a year. Your correct when you say Newbury is a quaint town. However, it does get pretty busy during the summer months with tourist travel, boating and the state park.

Also, remember to slow down when you enter the town. The speed limit drops from 50 MPH to 30 MPH just as you enter the town and, the local police use this area for radar quite often. It's one of those up the hill at 50 and down the hill at 30 and your in town before you know it.

Best of luck on your trip.

I spend a lot of time in this area. It is a great place to live and play. Newbury has not been overrun by commercialism and does not get the same type of attention and hype as the big lakes areas to the east do.

You'll find a large number of transplants and part-timers from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. More Pennsylvanians and people from New Jersey are also making their way to the area as well as a few West Coast transplants.

There are so many things to do if you love the great outdoors. However, full time employment is going to requiring some traveling unless you don't mind living on a less than $30,000 a year salary. If you start your own business that's a different story.

Thanks for the heads up on the speed traps jthibodeau! But if I open a diner there I will give all the police officers free coffee and I will also have other perks for them as well!

I think maybe the summer tourist aspect may help fund this operation through the long winter! Something to ponder anyway!

Your welcome, Comet....

Remember, Newbury is just a spit from Mt. Sunapee ski area and snowmobiling on the lake as well as trails. Should you open a dinner in Newbury, "winter operations" may not be so slow as you may think.

Thanks for the heads up Kelticnomad and welcome to the board!

Do you think the lakes near Holderness help prolong the growing season and the good weather? It looks like a cute little town!!
