Thanks in advance for your replies. We are moving this spring to the southern Vermont or NH area and Im looking for suggestions on where to check out.

About us: late 30s, married, two young children. Politically Left leaning, outdoorsy and sociable. Not overly crunchy or hippie but enjoy good food, conversation, sarcasm, music and rivers/hikes/skiing.

We are looking for a family friendly community with good schools, intellectual residents, and safety for our young boys. We would like to be able to purchase a nice home on a few acres for 300k. Additionally, we want to be in a community that has fun things for us to do with the kids so we can meet other parents and have a bit of a social life in the form of dinners with friends, hikes and hangs. Putney seems like a lovely area and Id love to hear more about it. I worry about Brattleboro though, as people have described it as seedy and drug infested. Does this description travel up to putney? What about Walpole or Keene or Harrisville? What are those like? Would love to hear about these towns. Again, wed like somewhere liberal, community oriented and safe for a family.

Thank you so much!
