I messaged you back. Have a safe flight and pack warm. The weather channel was predicting snow on friday when I checked a day or two ago but that changes quickly so it might be different. Weather shock is only the begining. Although after this winter its more weather misery for me than weather shock. Hope you're prepared for A LOT of snow and shoveling and heating and deicing and slipping and sliding and freezing 7 months a year. Thats winter, esp because Keene is in the snow belt. God bless ya if you wanna ski or go ice skating. After I felt how cold it really gets, and what it feels like to have -15 all day long I don't want to walk to my car, let alone ski and fall in the snow or ice skate and get wet and more cold.
I can't say I wasn't warned about it though before I moved, everyone told me about what winter was like and not to do it and the effort and money you dump into it. I didn't listen thinking how pretty the snow was and how much it would feel like Christmas and wish I had. Christmas felt cold, and the snow was already dirty and black and nasty and my present was to get up and shovel. Would save me thousands of dollars if I'd listened. In heating alone since Nov. I've paid well over $1,800. I didn't even pay half of that to cool/heat my entire condo, double the size of my place the ENTIRE year in Fla. Not worth it, the views don't make up for the money lost. Thought for sure I had some flaw in the house like insulation, but assured by inspector and gas company that all was proper and the amount is correct. Said everyones bills were that high this winter.
As far as thing to do, just sight see I suppose, walk up and down main street. Unless you wanna drive somewhere to Brattleboro or Manchester for a mall or shopping. The town is still dead right as far as entertainment because of winter and it still being cold. Nothing important to talk about going on downtown as far as music or anything or anywhere else. They're just getting around now to covering the potholes, sweeping all the sanding off the streets and repairing walls and chains from accidents this winter. We don't have any hang outs we have 2 bars on mainstreet that the college kids hang out at and the cops are called nightly to. You can try resturants to eat at, but other than that you're gonna have to drive for any sort of real entertainment.
Check with the chamber of commerce they might be able to help you more as far as happenings going on. Hope you have better luck here than I've had.
