Also interesting how it's the only state that leans right in the Northeast.

I think you've got that backwards. Historically, northern New England has been pretty conservative. Vermont is the state that's veered radically away from its conservative routes, and Maine less so. NH just hasn't changed as much. So the question is why has Vermont changed and now leans so far to the left?

New Yorkers who've moved to Vermont since the 1960's account for the more leftist leanings. Been to Burlington? It's a commune freak show.

Unfortunately, NH appears to be drifting more to the left and I fear before long it will be like the rest of the states in Northeast.
