Default Please Recommend a town/area within 30 mins of Nashua

Hi everybody on this wonderful Tuesday!

Can you all please recommend a few town names we should consider. We are looking for a town within 30 mins of Nashua & Manchester. We are hoping to find a home in the 200-290,000 range yet in a very good school system , low crime area, clean town and hopefully a bit lower property taxes then lets say Londonderry NH.

Please help! Anyone?

Thanks

I've heard good things about Milford, which is closer to Nashua than Manchester, but know nothing first hand about cost of living there.

What kind of house are you looking for....? If you want a 3 bedroom, 2 bath--pretty typical around here........you won't find it around Nashua in that price range. Trust me...we've lived in NH all our lives and have been looking for same..........the property taxes are what push you over the edge when looking for nice homes and good school districts. You can find the above in the 320-360 range.......unless you want to get a "fixer upper"...you can find those for less. But by the time you fix it up, you've spent all that money anyway. You might find something in Merrimack.........Another option, which is what we did 5 years ago, is find a two family and rent out the other side. Many of those in the area of Manchester/Nashua/Concord. Good luck.

Bedford, Goffstown, Amherst, Merrimack are some choices. Londonderry is a great choice for the school. Unfortunately, the taxes on that end of the state are going to be higher than others if you want good schools. They sort of go hand in hand.

um.. I sent you a map with all the towns labeled, did you get it? That right there will tell you the name of towns all around Nashua. Check out some towns on the community websites and their own town websites, then if they still look interesting, ask about some specific towns.

I don't think anyone (barring perhaps Valerie ) wants the responsibility of trying to tell you where to live. Ask us about specific towns and maybe people will know more.

Default Confused on home prices

I'm confused a bit. From talking to my NH realtor and looking on real estate sites it seems there are many homes around 270-290,000 that are 3 beds 2 baths. These homes are not brand new, but some are built in the 80's & 90's, dont really seem like fixer uppers. So if my price range is to low then what range should i look in to be in a good school district, safe area, yet 15-20 mins from Nashua? Please name some nice towns.

Thanks!!

if you're finding them, then run with it. maybe there are no garages...no land...etc. Electric heat, no insulation. Bad builders....

15-20 minutes from Nashua does not leave much to choose from - Hollis, Hudson, Merrimack. Do you mean Nashua downtown? or Nashua borders... Unfortunately, you have to cross the Merrimack River to get there from the east so you are limited to only 2 or 3 roads coming into town.

From the north, you have 3, 3A or the Everett Turnpike.

Hollis is a wealthy town. Sounds like you might be best off looking into Merrimack for a home along the river or stay in Nashua proper.

If you don't mind a 1/2 hour drive, look at towns surrounding Manchester for more options. Once you're on the highway, traffic moves pretty quick. Getting around town IN Nashua, is another story.

Heidi9771 is on a distinguished road
I would recommend Amherst, N.H.

It is 30 min or less to Nashua, and has one of the best school systems in town. It is also one of the more affluent areas, with a strong community for families and hardly any crime. The real estate taxes are a bit higher than some of the other less desirable towns, but most NH real estate town taxes are rising...

Check out NH Real Estate | NH Homes NH Condos NH Land NH Waterfront NH Realtor for houses for sale (that is where we found our home0 - there are definitely nice houses currently listed in Amherst in your price range.
