Sorry that person acted so discourteous to you . It is sad when some of us do not take a moment to realize how brief a time we have here. Why not make it more pleasant for all of us with some kindness.
That woman, Buck, I think she was probably hurting with something that was going down in her life and I hope she will recover from her rudeness spell! Sorry you had to receive such a cold hearted response.

I know the feeling - the same thing happened to me last year. I made a sorta OT comment (following on a comment someone else had made and got zinged by someone anonymously for being OT to the OP! and I didn't notice the settings (I did see the number drop) until much later so I didn't feel there was any point in talking to a mod about it. I mentioned it in the 'blonde moment' thread and a number of folks were very kind and repped me to make up for it! I wish I could do the same for you, but it tells me I have to spread more love around . So... consider a 'zen' rep point from me???

I found the answer to negative rep points...they discontinued it in February of this year due to popular demand:

Wow...countrylv22 is amazing. Look at the rep points versus posts ratio. That's pretty impressive!
I think I need to add more smilies to my posts. That must be the secret.

Buck - I don't think you can negative rep anyone now. It used to be when you clicked on the scales at the top of a post, there were 2 options - one to rate positively, one negatively. I think they did away with the negative option.....I haven't seen the negative option in a looooooong time. I think a lot of people may have misused the option.....as I'm sure the person who negative-repped you did!
Oops - I see TailorMaid already found the link about the negatives.....
