Default Armenian schools or groups in NH?

Hello All! I just joined this forum after days of reading all your helpful information. My boyfriend and I are strongly considering a move to either Maine or New Hampshire. I am voting for NH but he is stuck on Maine. We will be visiting both in June so we'll see what happens.

Anyways, my questions is for any Armenians in this forum or anyone else who may know the answer. Are there any Armenian schools or groups in NH? I ask because my boyfriend is Armenian, I am a mut but mostly American, German, and Irish; and when we have children we would like for them to still know and identify with their Armenian heritage as well as their American/mut heritage.

Thanks in advance for any information you guys and gals can give me.

I beleive there is a performing arts school in Nashua. But to my knowledge that is it. We don't have alot of Armenians here. Some but not many. Alot of Samalies latly though. lol May I suggest you try to call the Manchester School District. We have over 400 Diffrent langs. in the local school system. Didn't know there where that many myself but thta's what the school board says. Anyway I am positive they can help you. They have list of local groups and orgs. for things like this and ppl whith children and Questions. Just google Manchester NH S.A.U. .. Contact info should be there.

HAHAHA!

lol, That is sooo funny! I just was typing.. "No, you should look into Burbank/Glendale." I saw your location. Many many Armenians in Glendale! Personally, I have seen many of the Armenian guys at clubs. They come over the hills from Glendale into Hollywood and say they are "Italian" and try to pick up girls.

Burbank is a not a bad area -what is tempting you to leave? (Housing prices?)

Glendale has the largest Armenian population in the United States.
The northeast is primarily for the English, German, and Irish.

Hey! Get back to your side of the board! [/sarc]

But I'm not aware of many Armenian groups in NH either, and Concord/Manchester/Nashua would be your best bet. Try www.anca.org and there is a Merrimack Valley organization (located in Mass, if the phone number is any indication).

And Maine? You really want to pay that much in taxes? They're worse than Taxachusetts!

nhyrnut- thanks for the info. I will look into that.

newportbeachsmostwanted - that was very funny. We love Burbank and we would love to stay but the house prices and the general cost of living is sky rocketing and the overall environment (not meaning the weather) has been going downhill. Plus we both have wanted to experience life on the east coast, it's hard winters and all.

OCCASparky - thanks for the info. The taxes, jobs and the overall feeling I got from a lot of the people on the forum is why I am pushing for New Hampshire but he still stuck on Maine because he knows they have his line of work (environmental and industrial health) and the house styles and prices look better to him, of course that is without taking into account the overall affordability.

Salem,NH has an Armenian church founded in 1912 when there were still a lot of shoe and textile factories around here. They are still active mainly sponsoring ski meets and social events. Just google Armenian NH for more info. Typical small Christian church in NH. No Turks.
