Danielle - Your work really is beautiful! We were in a place here in Littleton that had an open house this weekend and they had wood sculptures that were going for a pretty penny - I'm sure if you made those lamps you could make quite a bit on them!
Auto - Your graphic designs are impressive! I was going to take some courses in that, but then my work picked up and I never did.
JFRRACING - Your truck looks like one that was in town a couple of weeks ago - but the one in town was covered with dried mud!

Danielle the lamp is truly wonderful!!! Wow
I love to ride my Honda Helix. This is the beginning of my third summer with this one and I have almost 9th miles on it. I love to wander the countryside and just enjoy nature. I like to look at the farms and just watch the crops grow. I see all sort of wild animals.
Oddly enough for years I collects plant arrangers, called frogs. I like antiques and I take off in one direction and then another. I also collect sock darners that people used to use to darn (sew) holes in their socks. I like old kitchen items and use many of them. I have a 1927 gas stove that I cook on and love it.
I love to walk, work in my yard and read. I'm trying tomatoes in pots on the deck this year. I live in the woods and the animals eat everything so I'm trying the deck this year which gets lots of sun.
My two year old grand daughter loves tomatoes so she and I are doing this as a special project together. Last year, at only one, she loved tomatoes. My daughter took her to a friend's house and they had picked a whole basket of tomatoes. My daughter and her friend were talking and then they looked back my grand daughter had taken a bite out of each tomato!!! Oops

Right now my hobbies are limited to reading, writing and some crocheting.
Many moons ago I did a lot of sewing, especially when my son was little - I made most of his clothes - heck of a lot cheaper than buying them when he outgrew them so fast! I even made my wedding gown for my first wedding - satin and lace and it cost $35 I wish I had kept a picture of it
I've done a lot of "dabbling" over the years - played piano for awhile, made a lot of crafts, did a lot of baking, messed around with creating websites, but they all fell by the wayside over the years. Maybe one day I'll get back to some of them or find new ones - there are a lot of things here in NH that intrigue me!

I agree Dare To Dream, it's hard to know where to put your time. I get in moods to crochet and then put it down. I think I made 50 scarves the past few years and just give them away. Part of the fun in life I think is trying lots of different things to find out where your passion is. Over the years I have sailed, had kayaks, had horses and RV's and then I am off to something else.
I would like to take a water color class next. I notice the things I like are less active now..LOL

Hi driftwoodpoint - Welcome to the NH forum! I blame my trying different things and not sticking to them to being a gemini! I like to crochet afgans and still do it if my carpal tunnel syndrome isn't acting up. My son still has one I made for him 20 years ago!
My sister paints - people give her photos of their pets and then she paints them for them and does a really nice job. I've always wanted to give it a shot, but haven't tried that yet. There's a quilting group up here that sounds interesting. One thing I've noticed, though, is a lot of things I might be interested in and would like to check out all have their get-togethers at times I can't make it! They're usually weekday afternoons and I'm working....that gets a little frustrating at times.....

It's no suprise to read how talented and interesting you all are! Beautiful lamps, costumes, wedding gowns etc...how wonderful!
I used to have hobbies that were incorporated into my lifestyle with passion (like mr. toad), but in the past couple of years I have been a totally unmotivated slug. I'll list this stuff anyway...maybe it will inspire me to pick up these things that make me so much happier.
I've been an amateur astronomer since I was a child and have collected a few telescopes & accessories. Running has always been one of my favorite activities, and I've helped coaching kids track & XC groups. Also, I've painted with watercolors most of my life as well. I love all aspects of art, from technique to design/composition.
I became a rockhound in CA, and have a collection of rocks/minerals that I've traveled to specific CA sites to find. Ironically, one of my most treasured finds is a nearly bowling ball sized chunk of gypsum crystals which i dug from my own front lawn after spotting the sun reflecting off a tiny exposed spot (hoping next time it's a treasure chest...).
Gardening, photography, reading(science, history, religion, philosophy) and cooking also rank as hobbies.

I personally would not pay $200 for the price of some of those wood lamps you see for sale which is why i probably wouldn't make much of a profit because i'd practically give them away. I'm not good a pricing things. I can get the lamp kit for $12.00 at Lowe's and the shade for $30 - $40. I compare what i do to what some people charge and i'm blown away. I guess i do okay because i haven't burnt down my brother or sisters home yet making them. I'm hoping that when we build our home in TN, i can make some of my own log furniture but i'm quite a way from trying that. We just have so many cedar trees in our yard and we have to tear some down for building, i figure i'll put them to good use somehow.

The only painting I've ever done is paint by numbers I admire anyone who can pick up a brush and start painting....I'd probably do better in a Jackson Pollock (sp) type of thing
The rock collecting sounds like fun - and being able to distinguish the types of rocks from one another. There are so many things I'd like to learn, but just haven't had the time to put my mind to it and put it in practice - I guess that's why I like to read - I do things in my mind, if that makes any sense! I read just about anything - depending on my mood, it can either be mysteries, psychological thrillers or, like you, philosophy. I've moved 5 times in the last 10 years, so a lot of my books were given away in the process rather than bringing them along...sometimes I could kick myself for giving away some of them!

The wood "statues" we saw were tabletop size - maybe 12 inches high or so, and they were going for $125 - They were beautiful pieces, but I just couldn't justify spending that for something to put on a table and look at Something with some "functionality" plus the originality - that I could justify!

lately I've been taking some photos and giving them a 3D look. For example, I had a photo of someone holding a good size trout. I reproduced the photo on photographic paper, glued it on 1/4" Birchwood w/spray adhesive, then cut out the trout w/a scrollsaw, then put it back in 1/8 inch deep & glued it in place. With 1/8 of the fish sticking out it looks great.
