That sounds neat.

What a nice thread- I have enjoyed reading about everyone's hobbies.

My hobbies include running, weightlifting, hiking, fishing, anything outdoors. I also love to watch football, baseball, hockey and NASCAR. We have tickets which we renew every year at NHIS.

I am very much into genealogy. I have researched my family back to the 1700's in the USA, including several native Americans, that I have verified. From what I have seen-my family goes back to the 1600's in the USA, plus the native Americans which go back further but I am still working on verifying that. My ancestors are founders of a town at the NJ shore. I have a few famous or semi-famous black sheep as my ancestors. Also-if anyone has ever heard of the Mummers parade in Philly-according to someone I "met" online one of my ancestors was one of the founders of that parade-that I am still in the process of verifying as with genealogy word of mouth is not good enough.

I have recently begun taking pictures with my digital camera. I am not the best picture taker but I am having fun and I am trying to do a better job.

Another hobby would be politics-although aren't hobbies supposed to provide stress relief?

I personally would not pay $200 for the price of some of those wood lamps you see for sale which is why i probably wouldn't make much of a profit because i'd practically give them away. I'm not good a pricing things. I can get the lamp kit for $12.00 at Lowe's and the shade for $30 - $40. I compare what i do to what some people charge and i'm blown away. I guess i do okay because i haven't burnt down my brother or sisters home yet making them. I'm hoping that when we build our home in TN, i can make some of my own log furniture but i'm quite a way from trying that. We just have so many cedar trees in our yard and we have to tear some down for building, i figure i'll put them to good use somehow.
Danielle- I agree with what everyone else is saying. You do a great job on those lamps and you could sell them- for a pretty penny!

That sound really nice! Will it "translate" well if you were to take a picture of it and put it here?

Architecture and interior design. Totally obsessed. For many years I renovated every home I lived in, and finally got a chance to design from scratch, which is the home I'm in now. Unsurprisingly, it's a country Colonial.

I was a history major in school, and still try to keep up with that. And I love all things British. I'm of British ancestry, and my DH is a Yorkshireman. He "fell in love at first sight" with New England, of course, which is one reason we're considering moving to NH. DH is also a semi-pro musician, in that he has a day job, but he has gone out to paid gigs. He also teaches music workshops, writes music, and runs an occasional radio show. He's also a good sound engineer, IMO. So when we get to NH, we will definitely want to explore the music scene.

Oh, I've just finished the series of novels about the Thursday Next character, by Jasper Fforde. Hilarious, sort of science fiction meets Nancy Drew, with lots of literary references.

Great to decorate and design your home scone. I worked a year on ours and had a ball. Not sure, like you, that I could do this again.
And I love to read. We spent the summers on Lake Erie and my dad would not allow a TV in the summer. He called it the "one-eyed people eater". So we all learned to love to read. Your comment about Nancy Drew made me think of reading all of those books.
I'm hoping I can get my grand children interested in being outside rather than sitting in front of the tube or video games. Although here I am in front of the computer
