Happy 4th to all...
I am celebrating my 6th wedding anniversary today - and my FIL's birthday. Let's just say I won't be around later today hehehe.
We will see the fireworks tonight in our town, then tomorrow night we will go to a neighboring town to see the NC Symphony and the fireworks. Then Saturday I plan to go to the drivein to see Wall-E, Incredible Hulk and a third feature Baby Mama if we can stay awake that long LOL.
Be safe - no drinking and driving please - and God Bless America - as a naturalized citizen from age 5 I truly appreciate this great country.

I would also like to say I am very grateful to our troops who fight and risk their lives or even loose them to make it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms of this land we live in. America, with its flaws (nothing is perfect ) is an amazing place to live. We are so fortunate to call America our home. God bless the soliders, the men and women who are out there making sure we have peace and freedom here.
Everyone please be safe on your journey to your 4th of July celebrations. Have a wonderful 4th...

tradition, tradition
Our community has a 9am parade, with bikes, walkers, fire trucks, police cars, local business trucks, all decorated. We have contests for best costumes, decorated bikes, etc. I used to bring my kids to participate, tomorrow I will bring my two year old granddaughter, dressed in red, white and blue. Then, my son, daughter in law, granddaughter, dh and me, back to cool off in our pool for a bit.
Later in afternoon, my sister will drive my dad (82) and step mom in from Ft. Laud (an hour's drive to us) and we'll all have our traditional Fourth of July Feast here - white and red clam chowder, corn on the cob, clam fritters, blueberry and cherry pies, watermelon. When I was growing up we lived on the Cape (Harwich) and my mom would make all this, PLUS steamed clams or lobster, all by herself for us, every single year. We never gave all that hard work a second thought, unfortunately. Now, my mom has been gone for 16 years. I took over the tradition, because my dad, sister, and my own kids love it so much. However, I don't do the clams or lobster. Making huge amts of the chowder, the fritters, pie, etc. is enough for me to tackle. We do miss the clams, but my mom's chowder recipes and the fritter recipe are enough for all of us. I do all the holiday meals now that she is no longer with us. I use many of her recipes, and even though everyone raves, they are never as good as mom's were.
After all that's cleaned up, we'll sit out on our front lawn and watch the fireworks, and then watch the Boston Pops on tv.
We leave for our NH two week trip next Saturday, looking for great places to live.

The Warner VFW will have a pancake breakfast tomorrow morning on the lawn of the town hall. Come on down and join us for a blueberry flapjack.
If the weather is decent we will play down at the lake after breakfast and do a little swimming/fishing/canoeing.
We will end our day with fireworks in Concord.
Saturday, Bradford has it's annual Independence Day bash. They usually have a parade, stuff for the kids, a band, chicken BBQ and of course more fireworks! Great time for all.
