Snow tires or All Season Radials
In NH, do people use snow tires or just drive with all season radial tires in the winter?

Hi,
I can't answer for everyone (obviously ), but my car has snow tires (automatic), my husband's car as all season radials (standard) - Neither of us has had any problems getting around in the northern section....of course we haven't had much snow and the roads have been taken care of wonderfully. If we have a lot of snow, I'll try to remember to let you know if it's the same!

All seasons work fine. If you are concerned alot about it go with Green Diamond Tires I know alot of ppl here that run them and they all swear by them. Mater of fact I am getting a set for my truck next year. But aside from that all seasons work.

Any local dealers in NH for the Green Mountain tires? Also, someone recommended Nokian Tyres all season, does anyone know anything about them?
Thanks.

Try /www.tirerack.com/. Arguably the most knowledgeable internet tire store who will actually talk to you and give you advice on what tires are needed for your vehicle.
Their prices are competitive too.

Nokian Tires are what I run on my truck now. They are snow tires and they Suck. I spun out IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE DOING 20 Just this morning around a corner. Not a sharp 1 either. You will have to google "Green DIAMOND Tires," to find 1 everyone I know orders them direct from them. Just remember Diamond NOT mountain. LMAO

Neither have I til this year. I know it's the brand. It just happens to be the brand the poster listed. The only reason I mentioned the green diamond tires is noone will ask that question unless they have not driven in snow much. So you let them Know the best ones for the job. Like I said I will be getting my first set this year for next just due to 1 friend buying them and talking about them and it snowballed now I have almost 12 friends with them and they all rave about how good they are. They are simular to the old sandpaper recaps EXCEPT THEY ARE NOT RECAPS. But as I said everyone I know with them Swares by them now. So when recomending something I feel it is the best recomendation for someone who don't have alot of exsperiance in the snow.

5 years ago (when we used to get snow) I bought snow tires for my car. The brand is "Blizzak", although I haven't seen them anywhere since. Even though the car itself (honda civic) is good in snow, the tires made an incredible difference. A couple years ago we got a bad storm and while driving home from work I had to stop and push at least 10 cars out of my way because they couldn't make it up a hill. When it came time for them to help me out, I said no thanks and just drove up the hill without batting an eyelash. These tires are great on ice too, and after 5 years they're still almost new.
Also have a 4x4 that I almost got rid of last year because it was absolutely useless in snow in 4WD. A couple weeks ago I got some "BF Goodrich all season radial long trail" tires. I got those at Tire Warehouse. I now trust this vehicle with my life.
Also have a 4 ton rear wheel drive work van. That has Michelin all season radials on it. I've only owned it for a month so hadn't driven it in snow yet. I was scared to death to go to work yesterday, but was extremely impressed with the way it handled. It climbed a small mountain in Henniker through about 3 inches of unplowed snow without spinning once.
You have to keep in mind that it all depends on the driver!!! If you aren't used to snow, you will be scared, and that's very bad. If you or your wife have no experience in snow, I suggest you get something with 4WD or snow tires until you feel confident. Snow tires; even good tires are expensive but well worth the money.
