violetvale is on a distinguished road
I kind of have the same question - I'm looking at a job at Dartmouth. Where can we live that is within 20 minutes and under $300K? With good schools? Vermont would be okay too.

Thanks for any info!

On the Vermont side, I'd look at Thetford. Good school system. Not sure what home prices are like though.
Can't find a good link for Thetford Elementary, but here is the high school: http://www.thetfordacademy.org/
Also check out Orford NH/Fairlee VT. They share a school system that I've heard is good. http://www.rivendellschool.org/
Thetford is about 10-15 minutes north of Hanover on the Interstate, Fairlee & Orford 15-20ish.

It seemed like all the nurses we talked to at Dartmouth Hitckcock lived in Hartford, VT. Never been there myself, but seems to be the 'burbs of Hanover.

We know people that live in Thornton, Plymouth and Rumney that commute to Hanover/West Leb. to work. Real estate is a little less pricey.

If you work at Dartmouth in NH and live in VT, do you pay the Vermont state income tax? I know that if you work in NH and live in MA, you pay the MA state income tax.

If you can avoid a state income tax by living in NH, it might be a good thing to do....
