Default Living in Hebron, NH

Can anyone tell me anything about living in Hebron,NH please. I heard that it's a nice small town and it's close to Newfound lake. It has a very low property tax, about $7/1000. Why does it have this low tax rate comparing to the other NH towns?

Hebron is traditionally one of the lowest tax towns in the state. The tradeoff for the low property tax rate is the fact that the town provides very little in the way of services - Hebron and its' neighbor Groton, often share a police officer, the fire department is comprised of volunteers, you must transport your own garbage to the Bridgewater-Hebron town "dump", there is no town sewer/water system, etc.
So the savings in tax spending is most likely evened out with the fact that you need to provide your own well and septic system. Even if you are not building a new house, but instead buying an existing house, the cost of the well and the septic system will be factored into the price of the house.
Hebron is a typical New England small town. Very picturesque and small.
And think about it - there is a reason why Hebron does not need a full-time police officer. That is a good thing!
