I hope all is ok, I have so many friends in all the areas devastated - but most I haven't talked to since I left NH so I don't even know how to get ahold of them (divorce caused less communication).
I certainly know what you all are going through - we have tornado warnings at least once a week here - and last summer I actually experienced one ON my house - minor damage thank God - but I never want to live through that again.
I hope all our friends check in soon - and they get power back on.

It's terrible to hear of the tornado situation up there.I lived in Deerfield off and on my whole life and have lots of friends in that area. That nursery that got hit was actually right across a dirt road from my old house.I called my old neighbor and he said he couldn't beleive the destruction.I would like to ask everyone to say a little prayer for my friend Harley who lost his wife in that storm. They are good people. I've known the Stevens family for over 20 years.Things like this show why we should live every day to it's fullest. Ya never know.

Oh my gosh, you were friends with the Stevens family??? This situation is horrible and I haven't been able to stop thinking of them in particular. MANY of us are thinking of the Stevens at this very difficult time.
Good advice about living each day to the fullest.

Tornadoes in New England are odd, but not unheard of. Just because you can't remember any doesn't mean they've never happened. In fact, there was a famous tornado outbreak that swept across MA and killed many people. Can't remember when it was, I think in the 1980's. Besides, weather experts seem to agree that the natural phenomenon of tornadoes is not related to global warming or climate change. Still, I'm very sorry for the families who lost loved ones, were injured, or had property damage.

Weather also here in Connecticut becoming increasingly strange- 3-4" of rain in parts of eastern CT a few days ago- monsoonal like downpours. Then around 4 this morning- a lightening display out of the tropics- (more this summer then I have ever seen) then powerful thunder- and then a downpour- all to be repeated an hour later.
The lightening however was vivid in its strength and luminosity.

I also live in Deerfield and the Van Berkum nursery that looked like a park setting is nearly totally destroyed. They put 20 years of their life establishing this premier wildflower and perennial nurseyi n that beautiful setting. They lost 90% of their trees that shaded most of the stock. I live about 3 miles south of there and looking at the tornado line if it had touched down sooner we would have been directly in its path too. I feel bad for the loss of life and the horrific destruction that was caused, We went to see yesterday as roads were blocked earlier and it is amazing the massive amount of trees that were destroyed and the homes. We hope all recover and are able to resume their lives soon

Sky, I am glad you are ok. The lightening must of been something to see. I think it would of made me scared too JFR. This is not normal for NE to have lightening storms and rain like this?
I am very concerned for the folks who havent posted in yet . All I can do is to send out good wishes and hope everyone is ok .

I always remember the T-storms in New England being worse than the mid-atlantic and even the southeast. We don't hit by t-storms too often, but when they come, hold on to your hats. When I lived in the mid atlantic and southeast we got thunderstorms more often, but usually they weren't as severe as I remember up here. It evens out everywhere. The only time I ever remember seeing hail is when I lived in MA

Yes, but didn't NH have a violent hail storm last year? I remember seeing it on the Weather Channel and then reading some posts about it on here. Can't remember what season it was in, but I remember that the size of the hail was enormous and caused considerable damage to cars, etc.
